I want to love N Cafe and truly root for them since it's our local spot. Unfortunately, it has big shoes to fill after At Home Kitchen, an exceptional cafe that closed due to the pandemic. This anonymous strip mall location faces tough competition, especially with excellent Thai restaurants nearby and the rich culinary scene in Gardena and Harbor Gateway. N Cafe’s menu seems like a logical follow-up to At Home, but the flavors lean more toward industrial, fast-food style bento—lacking subtlety and using low-quality ingredients dressed up cheaply. Didn't want to cook, struggling to find a place close by specifically in Gardena that participated in Delta Skymiles Dining. This place came up but only if you order online to get miles, not if you dined inside. Their menu is very eclectic. We decided on the Cheeseburger....Man-o-Man!!!! That was one of the best burger's we've ever had. Only critique would be they salted meat a bit more. But, overall super duper burger. Now I know they are more Asian/Italian influences but the Burger spoke to me. Thanks N-Cafe for the delicious food today. We will add you to the list of go to's.
I LOVED this place when it was At Home cafe. Small Japanese family owned cafe where everything was fresh and tasty. The name and menu has changed but the service and freshness of the food stays the same. I had the Fried Breast Chicken Curry it was very good. The chicken was crispy and tender and not oily or greasy at all, the curry was very tasty and just the thickness I like. Service was what you'd expect at a Japanese cafe, super kind and welcoming. Very accomidating. Do I miss At home? yes 100%. but this place is good and I'd come back again in a heartbeat.
JAPAN (via Eat the World Los Angeles) If you visit this place a few times and observe the activity, you'll notice many locals from Gardena stopping by to grab bentos for lunch. This has always been the main focus of N Café, and it feels particularly relevant in times when takeout is essential. They have a rotating selection of options, including a daily bento and a fish bento that varies occasionally. If you came here five days in a row, you could likely choose a different bento for each meal.

Unfortunately, I didn't receive the fried chicken breast I usually order. This chicken tasted like it came from Costco or Sam’s Club and was simply reheated. I was really disappointed. I had planned to bring it for lunch to a friend who had requested it because I had always praised how good their fried chicken breast is. I’m glad I opened it to check before putting it in the fridge, but sadly, it didn’t look appealing.
Ordered the fries chicken breast curry, truffle fries, corn chowder, and mentaiko butter pasta. Everything was yummy and portion size is large! Service is super friendly.
The interior of the restaurant has a casual vibe, but the food is truly at a high-end restaurant level. You absolutely have to give it a try!
The Daily Special Bento offers a great variety of items, tastes delicious, and is reasonably priced. It also includes miso soup.
