It was not a negative experience, nor was it positive. And fortunately, we were able to choose to laugh rather than grumble about all the frustrating things that unfolded across those couple of hours. After I briefly stepped away to take care of a minor issue, I returned to our table only to find that we still hadn't been attended to by a waiter. Ten minutes passed, and still, no one had approached us. By the thirteen-minute mark, I was becoming quite frustrated and managed to catch the eye of a waiter who realized we hadn't been served yet. We visited the restaurant for our anniversary and found the place to be quite empty, allowing us to be seated promptly. We ordered a few dishes, starting with a dozen oysters priced at around $2 each. During happy hour, they are available for $1.50 each. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, making them a highlight of our meal. I do wish the staff had clarified that to take advantage of the happy hour special, we needed to sit at the bar. The way they explained the policy made it seem like happy hour was only valid until 7 PM overall, which led to some confusion about the pricing. We came here for dinner on Saturday, 2/1/20 at 7:30 pm. It was our first visit, and we didn't have reservations. Although it was a rainy day, the place was full. The host was very friendly and was able to find us a table in the back room where a large group just finished dinner. We practically had this room to ourselves. Our server was friendly and attentive. She came to our table to take our order within minutes and answered our questions. She checked on us periodically and got drink refills. We got calamari for an appetizer. I just wanted to add that we returned to Nantucket Reef a year later from our first visit and this place is even better than before... if that is possible. My family and I decided to go to Nantucket's Reef to celebrate my parents' anniversary. We've lived very close to this restaurant for seven years now, and have yet to stop by. The service was great, we found the waiter very attentive. We ordered clam chowder and calamari for apps. Both were tasty! The calamari came in a lobster sauce which switched things up. I tried the shrimp and grits benedict for my main meal, and I really enjoyed both the shrimp and the grits. I didn't enjoy the potatoes that came with it as much, as they had an oddly sweet aftertaste. I came to Nantucket's Reef expecting more, but in the end, this is just a slightly-above-average restaurant. Upon entering, I was greeted and seated. My server took my order in a reasonable amount of time. I had the raw oysters and the Baked Stuffed Cod. The oysters arrived very quickly. They tasted fresh and came with the standard garnishes on the side. The Baked Stuffed Cod came after a brief wait. But unlikely the oysters, the cod was somewhat of a disappointment. While the cod was tender and cooked perfectly, it was over-seasoned with lemon. In fact, the cod virtually tasted of lemon, and after I finished my meal, I got a stomachache.

My salad was a delightful mix of various flavors and textures. It featured sweet pineapple, crunchy tortilla strips, spicy pickled ginger, romaine lettuce, napa cabbage, and peppery blackened tuna, all tossed in a zesty citrus vinaigrette. I only tried a bit of my daughter’s pasta, but it was delicious—rich, flavorful, and mildly spicy. We had such a generous portion that we took some home, which might make for a tasty breakfast tomorrow.
Additionally, the service was attentive and informative, and the decor and ambiance were very pleasant. I’m looking forward to returning for happy hour to try some oysters or calamari!
We enjoyed a fantastic late lunch here on a Tuesday. The staff were attentive and polite. The staff dress casual. The atmosphere is somewhat upscale, less the table cloths. We started with raw oysters. They were very fresh and of decent size. For our main dishes we went with the crabcake salad and the lobster roll. Everything was very fresh looking and well presented. The crabcake was well seasoned and prepared. The dressing was flavorful and complimented the dish well. I enjoyed the lobster but would order the crabcake next time.
