Went on a Thursday evening. No wait. Service was good. Everyone in our group had a good time, kids had a place to go run around when they were tired of sitting. Might could have used a bigger table for 7 and a high chair but we made it work. I want to say compared to a year ago the food has changed. Not in a good way. Our blackened reddish and catfish was very dry and overcooked. The dirty rice was also dry and overcooked. The green beans were good. I went back in March and had their famous and delicious shrimp and grits. I went today and was served the dish saturated in oil and grease no lemon butter sauce. I took one bite and did not taste the same. When I returned it I was told I had to pay for it. Then I ordered a side salad instead and the server brought a salad with rotten tomatoes. That is not dressing on the tomato slice, it is slime and was mushy and smelled spoiled before I put the dressing. Did not eat anything. I was punished for returning it and got served rotten food. Wow great experience. I didn't get my waiter name, but she took care of us very well. My drink was never empty and she checked us all the time! The location of this place is really great and overlooking the river Neches, so you can see boats by. Great atmosphere and I bet it's really fun at the weekends at the bar! I can't expect to come back and try other menu items. We ordered the seafood to begin Nachos and they were absolutely on point! I had the wheelhouse club with onion rings, my wife had the shrimp and grits and our son had the corn dogs with fries. The weather was perfect on the terrace when we left! Since we've been here, we've disappeared sometime! The brunch was amazing, the Eggchiladas were amazing, I got mine with scrambled eggs that they usually get over easy. Chris has the tacos and fruits. Let me tell you! This fruit was so fresh and juicy! Coby was an amazing bartender and made us a delicious grapefruit mimosa with an additional shot of coconut rum. All about the visit was perfect 10/10
Nothing like it in the area. Great location, right on the Neches river. The Wheelhouse serves up consistently tasty food with an extensive menu, and friendly, attentive service. I had the Salmon...delish! There is also a really cool outdoor bar with a salt life/island feel (that gets packed) featuring live music most weekends. Eat and drink HERE! PS: Ship Shots!
This place was very good, we went on a Sunday for lunch ordering the chicken wheelhouse and the Southwest Hamburger they were really good special that chicken very recommended, the outside was super is quite one of the only places you can see and eat the river! Previously here, we love it
Great food and fun atmosphere. We visited my mother-in-law for the first time. The food is alway good and it has good portion sizes. Every time we spiled a dinner there, they put it on 2 different plates for us and make it look beautiful. That's a nice touch.
