Neil's has absolutely the best donuts in Connecticut. I don't care what anyone else says—this is the ultimate spot for donuts. I'm a bit disappointed that they don't have a drive-thru, but it appears Wallingford won't permit it. That would be really convenient, especially with small kids. However, since the pandemic, they’ve introduced a fantastic call-ahead option, which honestly works really well. Their lines are ALWAYS long, so it’s much easier to call in your order and have it brought to your car. Wishing you the best of luck with your new location in Middletown! Neil's is amazing!!!
The donuts here are much better than those from Dunkin. I'm fortunate to live nearby and have an early work schedule, so I can arrive right at opening and avoid any wait. I usually buy donuts for about 60 coworkers, and they literally rush over from across the building to get them. All the buzz about how busy it gets is definitely accurate. It's worth the wait, as long as the line isn't wrapped around the building like it often is. However, I believe the breakfast sandwiches fall short, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.
This restaurant is incredibly popular on weekends, often with a socially-distanced line forming outside. However, the efficient staff and fast-moving queues ensure that you receive quick service, making the wait worthwhile. The donuts are fresh and come in a wide variety. My wife and I particularly enjoy the Samoa and Key Lime donuts. The coffee is fantastic as well. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. It’s not often you find a place that offers quality service, exceptional food, and great prices all at once.
I have a severe allergy to peanuts. Most donut shops I have found have either a peanut-covered or peanut butter donut, which means I cannot eat any donuts at their shop due to corss-contamination. The restaurant is not busy after noon. The staff is friendly, and there’s still a great selection of donuts. The filled donuts are cut in half and generously filled to maximize the filling. The glaze is delightful, with a crispy exterior and a soft, fresh interior.
Be sure to place your order over the phone in advance to avoid missing out on your favorite donut. The jelly donuts are fantastic, and the glazed ones are delightful as well! The customer service here is excellent. It’s a wonderful spot!
