This restaurant has my favourite Chinese food and I try to eat there every time I visit Vancouver Island. It is a small family business with authentic, fresh food made by the highly trained Cantonese chef/owner. I love how friendly the family is and how consistent and delicious the food is. It can sometimes take a while when its busy, like any place that makes food fresh to order. Furthermore, Qualicum Beach is a small town with few working-age residents and is lucky to a great restaurant like this. Went out for supper and ended up bringing the food home because the restaurant was freezing. They offered us a heater by our table, so I presume we weren't the first people to complain about it being cold.The food was mediocre. The Ginger Beef, Spring Rolls, and the Egg Foo Yong were pretty good, but the Lemon Chicken had almost no chicken and lots of thick stodgy batter, the pork dumplings were overcooked and came with no sauce, and the rice was really salty. Also there was no gravy for the Egg Foo Yong and no sauce for the dumplings. We will not go back.
The one dish we had tonight was very salty, so much that we didn't eat it, but they did provide the same dish without any salt to bring home and they let us try it before we brought it home to eat it tomorrow,we have eaten once before at the New Canton but don't remember the food being so salty!
The food was amazing, fresh, so very tasty. Best Chinese food I have ever had. Tons of flavor and vegetables were crispy. Good size portions and decently priced. Good food. Amazing location as the patio is right next to the beach. Portion size is good value. Lots of tofu in the veg dishes for vegans vegetarians. Nice family running the place. We will be back.
Yummy food, generous portions, great service. And the waterfront seating indoor and out is fantastic. Glad to have found this family run restaurant. Will definitely return.
We were very excited to find a local venue that served Dim Sum. It was pricey and not good. We should have known when we were greeted by children. Too bad.

We had a delicious meal out on their beachfront patio. They serve a lot of tasty dishes, its hard to choose which to have!
