It reminds me of Japanese food in Hawaii (where I’m from); my favorite dish is the katsu spam curry. Spam fried up like katsu and served over curry poured over hot rice. Their sushi is top tier with fresh ingredients and done like you’re in Japan. The atmosphere is laid back, yet upscale so it’s a proper venue for parties and get togethers. I love this place. It’s my go to. It’s pricey and the food takes a while to prepare, but that’s to be expected of a restaurant of this caliber. Lots if parking so you don’t have to drive in circles looking for a spot, or walk far. I'm new to the Renton area still exploring great Asian cuisine in the area. This is by far the best Japanese restaurant I have been to. The family is so nice, the food, atmosphere, and feng shui to this place is comfortable and cozy. If you need to destress during lunch or dinner in Renton, go to them! You also get to learn more Japanese words and they encourage you to communicate in Japanese with them (on the menu there is a list of common phrases). They are a small and wonderful operation. The woman at the front who hosts/serves/cooks not only does it all but she does so quickly. I love them, I will see them again with friends soon!
The service style is actually similar to being in Japan, you can just call someone over, I appreciated the opportunity to practice Japanese just a little bit because the staff mostly speak Japanese as well as English. We first got green tea which came loose leaf in a pot. Nicest quality tea I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. The food was extremely good, I probably ate more than I should have. We also got the tenpura ice cream which was incredible. Pretty large too good for 2-4 people to share. They played more traditional Japanese music and had a traditional painting of a woman that I just really liked.
Owner is super friendly (great service) and the interior is clean and nice. The sushi isn't anything unworldly, but definitely fresh, good and satisfying. They have all the staples covered. Good food nice service. Definitely a nice spot for lunch. Ramen was a smaller portion than I'm used to which is good if you don't want to eat much.
Quaint family business for simple Japanese eats. Nothing fancy, just comfort food.
