My God My God today!!! This was our first time at this restaurant and we did a take out. I was looking for a good wing place and this place popped up immediately on yelp. I read the reviews and my goodness we tried it and BABYYYYYYYY them Geechie Wings did not disappoint. My husband got the pork chops and they were great as well. It was so much we couldn't even finish which will make a good snack later. We both had Mac and cheese. He had orka soup and collard greens my goodness again . OMG!!!!! I have been in Charleston the past couple days from Raleigh, NC and every restaurant stop I’ve made has been better and better!! THIS food…….I can’t put it in words articulately, but I WILL say that everything was top notch. I had fried pork chops, red rice, macaroni cheese, and the fried cabbage with cornbread the CORNBREAD!!!! It’s some of THE best cornbread I have tasted buttery and sweet. It must be a standard to give more than enough in Charleston because once again, I received way more than I could eat in one sitting. I couldn’t live down here because I would be as big as a house especially the way the staff treats you, so welcoming as if you were family!! Such a great experie...
I arrived at the restaurant around 5:30pm on a Friday and was seated right away without needing a reservation. It wasn't too busy when I got there. I ordered my meal and it was served in about 15 minutes. The food was hot, delicious, and budget-friendly, with generous portions. The restaurant is located at the end of a shopping mall with plenty of parking available. I had baked turkey wings, baked mac and cheese, collard greens, rice with gravy, cabbage, and iced tea. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning. I enjoyed the background music and found the staff to be friendly and polite. The baked mac and cheese was particularly delicious.
The food that once was delicious is not the same anymore. After being away for a few months, we returned to find that our favorite fried pork chop dinner has been replaced with pork jerky. Instead of the three juicy and perfectly fried pork chops we used to enjoy, we were served three small pieces of pork jerky tonight. It seems that the restaurant has sacrificed good food for higher profits. They should have maintained the deliciousness and quality of their dishes and increased the price instead. I am disappointed and will not be returning.

The staff seemed to be having a great time but it didn't hinder the quality of service it added to the joyful, soulful atmosphere. Both the service and food were fantastic (the okra soup was amazing). At first glance, the sides seemed a little light but I couldn't even eat it all. My daughter said she was sad when she finished eating because it was gone... we aren't from the area so, it will be awhile before we return. However, we're going to tell everyone we know to make sure they add this place on the list.
Yep. This place is as advertised. I usually heavily scrutinize a restaurant but i got nothing bad to say about this place. When I tell you EVERYTHING was hot and fresh when it came to my table! The macaroni was REAL macaroni and not some BS. I guess my only complaint is they ran out of ribs, turkey wings and greens but it's all good because I'm here for the next 5 year's.... I'll be back
Food here was excellent. Our server, Sheree was phenomenal. She was very attentive but not intrusive. We ordered the gechee wings to start. They were crispy and covered in a unique and flavorful sauce. Our food arrived shortly after and was hot and appealing. We ordered yams, corn bread and rice with our chicken. Needless to say, we had very little left over. We will be back here soon!
While in town for a short visit, I was craving soul food so I decided to try Nigel's. I opted for a take-out order of fried pork chops, macaroni and cheese, fried cabbage, and lima beans. Out of all the dishes, my favorite items were the fried cabbage and mac n cheese. I would return to Nigel's simply to enjoy those two dishes again. I highly recommend trying them out.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! I can't stop thinking about the pork chops and I think they must add something addictive to the banana pudding because I can't get enough of it!
Make sure to order the fried green tomato appetizer and the low country ravioli - they are unique dishes that you won't find anywhere else and are definite must-tries!
