The introduction of a new chef has brought about a new menu at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the only vegan options are side dishes. Although they do offer a plant-based hot dog and jackfruit burger, both are served in brioche buns with no vegan alternative. However, the staff did offer to serve them without the buns and with a side of focaccia instead. It is disappointing that the previous menu had better options. I enjoy coming to this restaurant for the cinema experience. I did speak with a manager before leaving in hopes that they may add a vegan main dish to the menu. If they do, I will update my review as I take no pleasure in giving a low score.
Oh dear... where to begin. They were out of dry martini, so instead of making a dry martini and lemonade they brought an expresso martini as it was the closest thing they had. I'm no expert, but they are quite different. The menu is moderatly priced without the quality to back it up. The pasta I had was chewie (at best), the fish was flavourless and the extra chicken option we requested was ignored but still billed. All in all, there will be no return visit. Which is a shame, as the cinema is great so you'd think the reatraunt would be too.
Have you ever tried a coq au vin that was so heavily saturated with cream and salt that a layer of oil was visible on the surface? This combination made the dish unappetizing. Cream is not traditionally included in this dish, and I have never come across a recipe for coq au vin that calls for cream. This was not mentioned in the menu description either. When I brought this issue to the attention of the waiter, I was told that the chef would be notified. However, no adjustment was made to the bill, leaving me feeling disappointed overall.

Our family brunch today was absolutely fantastic. The dishes were beautifully presented and the portions were large and freshly cooked to order. The mocha I had was the best I've had in years. The Abbeygate team provided excellent service, and we couldn't find any faults with our experience. This restaurant is truly a gem. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: £10-20
Experienced the food 4 film...Pulp Fiction. This event was amazing. The food was fabulous and the courses tied into the movie beautifully. The adrenaline shot was inspired. The food here was really lovely. It was the best beef rib I’ve ever had! The staff were attentive and friendly For dinner, the ambience could have been better- maybe with little battery powered lamps on each table or some lamps around the room? Usually think this place is great but last week our burger bun was frozen solid, as we couldn’t really eat it the waitress apologised and offered us a dessert instead, but we’re charged for both when we got the bill. Also the men’s toilets were absolutely filthy disappointing
