Had a bit of a frustrating, disjointed experience last night. It started off nice enough, but then there were really long waits for the main course and dessert course, with no one touching the table in between. Our server, while pleasant, seemed to abandon us mid-meal. Everyone seemed eager to close up for the night. The main courses (wagyu and black cod for my wife) tasted like they were cooked by someone completely different. Eggplant was really tough on the wagyu dish and the cod was overpowered by a whole ton of raisin/fruit compote with overcooked gnocchi. I mentioned the waits to our server and she told us they were down three cooks that night. I wish she communicated that at the onset...
Went for the brunch tasting menu on a Fall Sunday where all of the leaves had just changed. We got to sit right by the windows and take in the beautiful views. The restaurant was so cozy and the service was outstanding. We absolutely loved our food and were blown away by the flavor profiles in each dish we were served. We were celebrating a birthday and this was a birthday meal my cousin will always remember. Highly recommend the brunch and sitting in the front room by the windows! What a great experience!
We celebrated our anniversary dinner here and I would say the service was subpar. Our waiter was kind when we saw him but he did skip an entire wine pairing with one of our courses. With tip we spent $600 and the overall experience doesn’t live up to that price point. I wish we would have just gone to one of Chicagos numerous steakhouses and we probably would have saved a hundred bucks. Overall I would give it a 2.5 and a skip.
The food and the level of customer service was outstanding. Each course was beautifully plated and served with a description of the ingredients. The food is always amazing and today, Liz our server was so wonderful. It was a birthday brunch and Liz went above and beyond to welcome us and kept the celebration going. Such a Lincoln Park gem. I almost feel like I am in a warm and cozy lodge when I am at North Pond. A really special experience.
From the minute we walked in the door the service was impeccable. The host took our suitcases etc and stored them for us like it was nothing. The service at the table was perfect, the food, amazing, the architecture fantastic. A definite must!
We had a wonderful time. Our server and all support staff were all terrific, and every course was delicious. The balance of casual formal dining was perfect.
