Staff I met were excellent and service is everything. Breakfast was good and included in the price. It’s not a 4 star hotel. It’s a ‘local’ town hotel now part of a small chain. Some repairs are being carried out on the roof then I’m informed they will be looking at updating other areas. The bedrooms were clean with excellently clean bedspreads and bathroom. It’s a place to sleep. For me a tiny bit expensive, but for the hotel; maybe not enough with all the costs of today, such as electricity prices. Also not a lot of alternatives in the town. (It is a small former market town, more of a throughway town really! Would I stay here again YES. Be aware that parking is close by, but not included...
Overall, this pub/hotel was very nice. The room was pleasant, although it was next to a Lidl. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, although it was a bit disrupted by the smoke alarm going off at 6.30am. The manager even asked me if I had used deodorant, which I found to be a strange question. The room itself was cozy and spacious with an excellent en suite. There wasn't much to do in the area in terms of activities or nightlife. The pub had a friendly atmosphere, but they didn't serve dinner on Monday or Tuesday evenings. Food drinks: Having lived in Crewkerne for some time nowand never even going into The GeorgeI was happily surprised when we did! A friend from out of town and I went in for a glass of vino. Finding the wait staff very friendly and helpful, we decided to return later and have a meal. After chatting with Manager Roseann and bartender Katy we chose Fish Chipshot, delicious and plentiful (Katy makes her own batter-light and crispy) Great job! Was okay to stay for working away on a budget but not really somewhere I would take the wife. Thought I would of had my own ghost with my room but not really seen anything out of the ordinary. Walk in wardrobe was cramped and the comfort 2000 didn't work lol. Food drinks: Food was reasonably and was good. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. It is in need of a renovation and does not offer breakfast. I did not have a pleasant experience during my stay. The rooms and service were average, and the location was decent.
