O Dinis - Tisch resevieren

I went here on a Monday night (keep in mind Monday is not usually where a restaurant shows their best performance) and I was blown away on all aspects of our evening. O Dinis was recommended to me several times and I finally had the chance to check it out with my friend. We both have spent half our lives in the restaurant industry so hopefully there is some validity if you're reading this. The food was fantastic. It was like eating a home cooked meal the way the humble presentations and giant portion sizes came together. This is not a normal experience for me at O Dinis. Usually I am quite happy with the service and food. First off, the server was friendly, but our entrees arrived before the appetizer. When I mentioned this the server seemed to be unaware of the appetizer order, even though I saw him write it down and acknowledge it. Secondly, this was the first time that both my wife and I were not happy with our food. She said her 's, a steak dish, was not nearly as good as past experiences. *Updated* We went on a Wednesday, it was packed! We got in super quick, however. Nice small place. Looks like a renovated house. After 10 minutes the waitress comes over and we give her our whole order. Shrimp appetizer, bife a casa, and the swordfish special. I get a beer, fiance gets a soda. We get dry cold sourdough and butter packs with our drinks. It comes with a vinaigrette dressing, nice. Edit: Deleted the rest of my review. We waited over an hour with nothing, got an appetizer, and 20 minutes later left when we still hadn't gotten our entrees after tables that came in after us were eating. The attention was bad, you can't hear yourself, we were waiting for more than one hour until my husband ask to somebody come to the table and he asked something to drink, we were waiting other hour more, the food was coming after that never, EVER nobody was coming to ask if we need something else. I ordered takeout, they told me 30 mins, it took over an hour to get my order. I ordered the chicken shrimp in garlic sauce and it was terrible, the chicken was so dry I couldn’t eat it-in trash it went. It definitely was not cooked to order, tasted like it was cooked yesterday and then refrigerated. Completely overpriced! Never again will I order from them.

This was my first time dining at O Dinis. My friend heard about it at work and asked me to go. Every detail was just right. I felt like I was eating in my Gramma Estrellas kitchen! I miss her cooking, so it's nice to know there's a place with authentic Portuguese food just like Gramma made. We will surely be back.

First time trying Portuguese food and I will definitely be back! Quick service, cozy atmosphere and incredibly delicious food. We had bifa a casa, shrimp with lemon and herb sauce and house sangria. The appetizer bread onion oil dip was amazing too.
