We discovered this restaurant through a Groupon Special offer and decided to give them a try. Don't let the location put you off: in a strip mall, with a Shell gas bar, Shortstop variety story and a Tim Horton's, wedged in between a nail salon and a dental office. The interior was decorated in dark wood and was the ambiance was pleasant, although the air-conditioning was a bit glacial for my comfort. The service was quick and very friendly. I don't often give an excellent rating for a place but this one deserves it. Stopped in here for a family dinner tonight to use up a groupon that was expiring. Wow - the food was just beyond expectations. We split the Cauliflower/Corn Fritters because they sounded so good. It had cauliflower, charred corn, cilantro, onions, red pepper coulis in it and I cannot tell you where the cauliflower was, but they tasted amazing. My dining companion & I arrived for our or 6:30 reservation and were told to choose our seat. It was easy as this place is cozy and inviting. After looking over the menu we both decided on Chicken Caesar Taco's. Amazing. The chicken was spiced just enough and the greens were crisp and fresh. I would have liked the option of cheese or sour cream to cool off the hot sauce a bit (even at an up charge) The prices are so reasonable as well. This was just delicious! Been around over a year and we have never heard of it. The service was fantastic! Friendly and welcoming! EVERYTHING is locally sourced and made fresh daily.Drinks- Bacon Caesar blended perfect, and water with thin slices of cucumber. We had the "fried goat cheese" to start, with red pepper jelly it was perfection.We then had the "The Cliffhanger" WOW so good!Defiantly a share burger. My summary just about says it all. The food is good and there is a cook or two here. The service at lunch was attentive and acceptable. However, the decor was poor for this price point.In a non descriptor mall and not easy to find,the resto looked closed before we walked in. Try their Tuesday and Wednesday night dinner specials $25pp, which is good value.The resto is so dingy that it was probably a converted bar, problem is that it is trying to be a gastro pub and well, it misses the mark.
I just wanted to highlight this business and give it the review it deserves. We as a family have been there on few occasions. Food was amazing, it is gourmet food for a decent price. All ingredients are fresh and presented well. I can speak for the burgers that are to die for, the strawberry and goat cheese salad, the apps are amazing as well. It is a little small and recently has been updated and if it is busy it is well worth the wait. The staff are very friendly and out going.
This was our 4th time at Obies, and they did not disappoint. We started with two soups (daily soup - broccoli-cheese and a french onion soup) which were superb. Finished with a Fish&Chips (with Lake Erie Pickerel) and a Quinoa Salad and a few beers, and we were full and satisfied. Server Lindsay provided great suggestions, color-commentary and checked back with us on occasion to ensure everything was going well. This is now definitely a "regular" place for us.
Husband and I were cranky and exhausted when we walked in. Within three minutes we had the goat cheese appetizer and were purring like kittens. Then he had rack of lamb with mushroom risotto---said absolutely outstanding. I had trout with Asian slaw served on crisp vegetables. Now we're sharing chocolate mousse. It was our first time visiting Obies'. The menu is small but the options are good with many foods locally sourced. Olga our waitress was helpful and friendly. The service was prompt and the food delicious. We will return again
