o’briens. my man and I held a afternoon to lunch here. we have shared one of the grilled pizzas, chourico and paprika. before our pizza came out, we had every suppe. my man had the new england clam chowder and I had a bowl of lobster I thought the bowls were pretty big! my suppe was very creamy and sweet. I didn't hear any complaints from my man about his! I was unfamiliar with chourico (pronounced hurdle – reet -zo), and thought it could be similar to chorizo I don't like. it is actually a Portuguese sausage that is quite similar to chorizo, but not as chorizo is ground in the rule. Stopped by with my daughters for a Saturday lunch before Labor Day. My oldest daughter and I both ordered clam chowder and enjoyed it. The chowder was a perfect consistency — not too thin or thick. However, I only got flecks of clam meat, not small chunks. We shared a starter dish of fried calamari, which was outstanding. The squid was tender and mixed with sweet pickled banana peppers. However, the fried batter flaked off of some of the calamari — something you rarely see in the South, where cooks have perfected the art of frying food. I love this pub! I stopped by while shopping in Newport one afternoon and ordered the Angus Burger with a side of Janet’s white bean salad. I topped it all off with a Blue Moon beer. This is possibly the best burger I have ever eaten – it melted in my mouth. And the bean salad is amazing. The dressing is light with just the right amount of seasoning making it a perfect summer side dish. The beer was on draft so was also excellent. The outdoor dining is very pleasant and relaxing. I will without a doubt come back to O’Brien’s the next time I’m in Newport.
Stopped here on our first night in Newport with no reservation and no idea what to expect. Well, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was very warm and local. We were in the mood for good bar food and this was the RIGHT CHOICE. The Lobster Roll and a Blackened Chick Quesadilla hit the spot as we washed them down with some local craft drafts. Excellent experience and would absolutely go back.

We've been going to O'Briens for many years on our trips up to Newport. Friendly neighborhood bar with nice selection of tap beers and delicious pub food. friendly staff. Definitely give it a try if your a Guinness fan, I personally feel its the best poor in Newport.
A must eat when in Newport! I've got the Smokey-Gebirge-Hähnchen sandwich and it was dying. Juicy grilled chicken and crispy bacon. The fries are also amazing. My husband got the Angusburger and it was cooked for perfection. Such a fun atmosphere!
