This place is just an excellent example of what hospitality is all about. An informal old bar with tables and bar space. The service is so friendly, the owner spends time speaking to all who enter, locals and visitors alike, no matter how busy the bar is. She will explain all about the food, the wine, the fiestas or the weather. In winter months, with the absence of central heating they have old fashioned brass trays full of hot coals (brasseros) under the tables to warm the customers. The food is fresh and delicious, the wine is great as is the cold beer. This is Granada province, so there is a free tapa to accompany every drink you order. We were staying in Alhama and came across this casa last Sunday. The lady was very welcoming and friendly and we explained we wanted to eat and have a drink. We were sat down and tapas came with our beer. The tables have mini fire pits which keep your legs warm under the table. A great invention. We had a meat dish with a tomato type sauce and bread. It was delicious if a tad salty. Very warming. We had another couple of beers and paid up. A traditional taverna/casa with authentic food and Spanish lager. Well worth a visit and we will be back soon!
One of my favourite places in the whole world. Josephina and Paco are simply the best hosts warm and welcoming even if you speak little Spanish. The tapas free) are incredible and the Rabo de Toro unmissable. You won’t be disappointed.
For us, this was the best place in this lovely town! Great food but I mostly recommend Casa Ochoa because they made us feel genuinely welcome. Gracias Doña Fina y todo el equipo por todo esperamos regresar pronto !
