I swung into Ola a few weeks ago and I probably won 't be back. I remember fondly visiting when they were new and sort of taking up the reins of the little brewery as Kona grew up and out. I walked in and saw one clearly tourist couple at the bar, they looked absolutely miserable as they sat in silence and I assumed maybe one wanted to be there an the other didn 't. But alas as the only other patron I felt somewhat connected, being discouraged by the bartender when asking for any advice on what someone who wanted to try something new/different/etc. Oh, I thought... This was my first experience with Ola, and I have to say, it was impressive. I learned about their community investments and noticed their logo supporting local farmers around the island, which is fantastic! As for the beers, none of them were bad, although I found a few styles that didn't quite suit my taste. Nevertheless, there were several standouts that I really enjoyed, which is what you want from a quality brewery, in my opinion. We had a wonderful time at Ola Brewery after trying the Dragonfruit Cider at Harbor House. The atmosphere was relaxed, the burger was delicious, and our food arrived in a timely manner. The beers and hard juice were also excellent. Overall, it was a delightful visit. I did want to address a couple of points: one previous reviewer mentioned disappointment over the food being served in a paper tray. Personally, I don’t see how the choice of serving dish could affect the taste of the food. Additionally, while children are welcome here, I wouldn’t expect a brewery to cater specifically to kids. That said, there is a McDonald's conveniently located down the street.
I tried the falafel salad, and while the falafels were decent, they didn’t leave a lasting impression. The salad itself was average, nothing to write home about. We also ordered the grilled cheese with fries, which turned out to be quite small—perhaps better suited for children. My favorite part of the meal was the Ma’a lager beer. However, the Pilsener didn’t compare well to German varieties, and while the Altbier was acceptable, the double Hefe was disappointing. On a positive note, all the IPAs were enjoyable. If you enjoy lagers or IPAs and aren’t too concerned about the food, this place is definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I recently stopped by for lunch. I ordered a flatbread pizza, which was tasty. He enjoyed his hamburger, although he admitted he’s had better at other places. However, there was something lacking in the overall ambiance; it felt like just a large room with nothing particularly special. While the food was good, we probably won’t be returning.
The Sunrise Drink was exquisite, and the string beans with lechon were a delightful addition. The service was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere had a wonderful local charm.

I really enjoyed the beers; they were the perfect ending to my trip. I can't wait to come back and savor more brews!
