Absolutely apalled the way I have just been treated by what I assume was the manageress, maybe the barmaid?? We dined last night and I have to say the food was average, we both had steak and kidney pudding one was fine but the other was oversized and under cooked...gloopy. However, the bang bang cauliflower starter was amazing. We didn't complain as the surroundings and staff in general were very pleasant so much so we booked for the following evening, tonight. What a lovely warm welcome we received from the staff at this pub. Our first night of our holidays my partner, myself and our two black Labrador girls turned up at the pub starving, tired and in desperate need of a rest after being stuck on the M6 for what seemed like forever!! When we arrived we had missed last orders for food. Being a small village there was no local chip shops or takeaways near which meant us having to ride around not knowing the area looking for something to eat. Lovely homely hotel pub restaurant well run with customer service a priority . We were made most welcome and had friendly chat . Beer a choice of 6 cask ales sparkling and clear and quality coffee served. We only dropped in for a pint but looking at the menu it was reasonably priced and i'm sure we would have experienced a quality meal. Comfortable lounge and dining areas
Visited the Old Kings Head with family members. The staff were friendly, polite very efficient, they made sure we had our drinks and were settled before showing us the menu, which had a variety of items to choose from. The food was hot, tasty and very enjoyable, nobody had any complaints.

The little touches like canned still water in your room every night. Spacious room, no pressure to go down to breakfast at a certain time or to leave. Food amazing, best lamb I have had cooked for ages, nothing too much trouble by the hosts. Location great.
Went for lunch on a Monday at noon ish. Was made to feel extremely welcome with the dog. Had a really lovely meal and drinks. Food was quick to arrive, cooked really well and staff vet attentive. Will definitely be back for another meal
I had the most beautiful meal I can remember. All three courses were spot-on. The fried prawn starter then the belly pork and finally creme brulee. Wow. Compliments to the chef doesn't hack it in this case. Brilliant. Thank you.
Fabulous service from all the staff, the food was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and we dined here every night we were in Broughton. Definitely recommended and will be sure to return

Celeriac soup, fish&chips and sticky toffee puding were great!! The staff are incredibly kind, the owner is really friendly I’m happy that I discovered this local and cozy restaurant.
Great welcome, friendly service through out. Good evening food and breakfast. Clean comfortable rooms. Bed was very comfortable and good shower. Good base to explore the lakes.
