After having had a great meal experience in On the Rocks a year or two back, I was looking forward to a family meal to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, my expectations weren’t realised. Although I had a really lovely starter scallops and the rest of the meal was good enough, nothing to write home about, but nothing to criticise either, what really disappointed was the service. The length of time between courses was unacceptable due (apparently) to being a chef down but the effect could have been mitigated by ensuring we knew the reason and to check regularly whether we wanted drinks. The terrible service ruined the meal and overall experience. We will not be returning! Upon arrival, we were seated on a slanted metal window ledge instead of a proper table. The staff forgot about us, took a long time to take our drink orders, and even forgot our drinks multiple times. It took 35 minutes to order our food, followed by a lengthy wait for our starters. When I raised our long wait time, the staff member promised a complimentary drink but then forgot about it. Amazing Vegan Options! Great views, lovely staff and when asked about vegan options a menu was prepared for me, with options!!! All sounded amazing but I went for the wellington! This was yummy and a generous portion. I didn’t have a starter as I had already picked vegan cheesecake (what a treat to have a “proper pud” rather than sorbet! The food was **** delicious and I’ll defo be back when I’m next down here visiting friends!
Went to the rocks on saturday for a family birthday meal for my daughter what can I say awful long wait for food when it arrived it was cold booked weeks in advance and explained one of our family members was vegan and was told they would sort vegan food out when arrived there was no food he could eat terrible communication between staff as they were not told to arrange vegan food will never go there again

We had a fantastic evening enjoying the view of the rocks and channel. The food, including lamb chops and veal chops, was cooked and presented beautifully. The Rioja wine was delightful. The friendly staff were welcoming and helpful. This restaurant is simply outstanding and definitely worth visiting multiple times.
We ordered the roast beef Sunday lunch, and I we were not disappointed, a very quirky place, the food was of high standard, not your run of the mill churned out restaurant chain food, the cocktails are the real deal too. Thank you for a great experience
For my retirement, me and five friends went to On the Rocks. Food was delicious, atmosphere friendly, warm and welcoming and service really friendly and helpful. Cost for such well prepared food was reasonable. Will definitely be going back.
The food was very fresh and cooked perfectly. Staff were very attentive and friendly and checked in on us throughout the evening for drinks. This is the first time we visited for food and we will be going back very soon.

Quick and friendly service and a tasty Sunday roast. The Yorkshire puddings were the best we’ve had and the views were fantastic!
