I had a terrible experience at the Ono Hawaiian BBQ location in Rancho Cordova. I placed an online order for my office staff and went to pick it up during my lunch break. When I arrived, I asked the waitress (Madison) if my order was ready, and she told me it was not. While waiting, I saw her give a large order to another customer. After waiting for at least 25 minutes, I asked her again about my order, and she said they were still working on it without checking. I waited for another 5 minutes before approaching another waitress to check on my order, and she informed me that Madison had given it to another customer. I had a great meal at this restaurant! The food was reasonably priced and I was able to save half for later because the portions were generous. I ordered the chicken beef combo and some spam musubi. I opted for 2 scoops of rice and 2 scoops of Mac salad, and I appreciated that I could choose to add vegetables as well. The vegetable option included cabbage and broccoli, which my husband enjoyed. Overall, it was a positive experience ordering online and picking up our food 20 minutes later. Pretty solid and dependable quality food. Not as good as Big Island BBQ in Folsom but this location is in our more traveled path so we have stopped by about 3 times this Fall. Love the beef, chicken Katsu, chicken crab Rangoons. The spam Musubi here is not my favorite but it's good. Customer service has been excellent and the restaurant is 10/10 for cleanliness. Lots of menu options including many combo plates of hundreds of possibilities for combinations. Couldn't resist adding the crab rangoons last night and super glad I did because they are ahhmanzing.
We have missed Ono since moving to Northern California and were ecstatic to have it again for lunch last week. None of the other Hawaiian restaurants in the area compare to Ono! The food was just as tasty and fresh as we remembered, reminding us of home-cooked meals. Everything was delicious, hot, and fresh, and we appreciate that they use recyclable containers instead of styrofoam. The only thing we wished for more of was cabbage, as it seemed to be less than we remembered. Overall, it was a perfect dining experience!

If youre ordering for a crowd and want the most bang for your buck, the family meal is the way to go. We had the island fire chicken, katsu chicken and BBQ pork with steamed rice and Hawaiian mac. I ordered crab Rangoon for hubby. Thank you and Merry Christmas. Always delicious. Im impressed with your recipes so much that I have taught myself to cook some of them. I can successfully make the Hawaiian mac, chicken katsu and kaluha pork, which Im making for Christmas. Thank you for your inspiration.
I am not reviewing the food in this review, but rather the service. We had ordered a few platters for a party. We planned to pick them up later in the evening at the scheduled time, but unfortunately, when we arrived they informed us that it would be at least another 30 minutes, and it ended up being another hour. The food is usually good at this restaurant, and I am not sure if they were exceptionally busy, but today's experience was disappointing.
I had a great experience at this Hawaiian BBQ restaurant. I have visited other locations of Ono's, but this meal was exceptionally fresh and delicious. My children thoroughly enjoyed it. We ordered the chicken BBQ and shrimp, both of which were delicious. The service was excellent, with the cashier/server being very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean inside and out. My only wish is that there was a location closer to our home.
the meat was decent but I didn't order the sides and honestly wish I had spent my money elsewhere. I wouldn't get anything from here if I were you.
