We experienced some disappointments the last time we ate here my kiddo has always loved them so we tried again tonight. They 've done something awful to the bistro calamari (it wasn 't good last time either, that 's made it taste bland and fishy at the same time. They don 't put nearly enough of the seasoning they used to (it was unique and made their dish craveable, so to lose it is sad. The marinara for dipping tasted like bland plum tomatoes that have been too long in the can and were just crushed and served as a sauce. Bland and metallic tasting. Well.... I used to love Oreganos and I think this experience has purged me of that love... I put my name in on the wait-list online. It send me a message saying to press 1 to let them know we were on the way. I pressed 1... Soon after I got a message stating that since they didn't hear from me, they were removing me but if I were still on my way to press 1. I pressed 1 again.. Got to the restaurant and was told they couldn't see the messages and all that they saw was a 1, so we had been removed from the wait-list. I wasn't a super long wait for a table... But not being super busy should have been a huge hint to leave... After we ordered we waited for about 30 minutes for our food. We had 2 a...
waiting for the seat was 45 minutes to hour. we had a party of eight. They had no nausea system or fans in the waiting area. after 30 minutes we went in to cool down. they had a large room that they served three separate tables, at the other end of the room were 4 tables of 4 chairs each. They didn't let anyone sit here. we had a cooler. they said it was against fire code to sit there. we didn't ask, just cool it. we had 3 adults in our party. they let us go out. we did not sit until 8::15 o'clock the waitress was very efficient. the food was good in time. I will never go back to this facility because they would not accommodate us by sitting in a cool area that was not used as we waited for...
We each had a salad with our balsamic dressing on the side. The crusty croutons were great and they poured on freshly grated cheeses. The angel hair with chunky marinara was good with a generous slice of garlic bread. The thin crust pepperoni pizza had the pepperoni hidden under the mozzarella cheese. Our server was good, but we had to remind her about getting our salad. She was busy sweeping the floor from prior diners. We like watching the old Ozzie and Harriet show on the black and white TV. We will come back.
Being from Chicago, we love !! Of course we find one with an amazing story! Not only was this thin crust pizza with Wisconsin cheese amazing; The start of Oregano's began on the north side of Chicago during the Great Depression when the owner was born! When you go you can expect to hear Frank Sinatra swingin' Big Band records just a wonderful tribute to living in the 50's. His simple philosophy about life: the key to happiness is friends, good food and music. The service was awesome!
We did something we usually don't do. We smelled our food for a few moments. Distinct basel, parsley and rosemary aromas. I mean fresh stuff. It really caught our attention. You get big portions here. Pablo salad was uniquely satisfying. My wife and I shared the Flag Lasagna and Alfredo in the Dark with added shrimp, see pic. I was impressed. Real food. Nice looking place. Great ambiance and attentive wait staff. I had my usual ice tea, even it was great. Nothing but high marks.
This place is good, but not great. Our waitress was so sweet and efficient! But, regarding the food it's mediocre. I regret not trying some of their more popular items because maybe I would have enjoyed it more. Again, the food isn't terrible and the staff was great, food is just mediocre.
This has always been our favorite lunch spot for special occasions!! The food is so tasty .Fresh salads and wonderful ice tea. The service is always fast and friendly. This place takes you back in time to Italy . The Santra music playing in the background is amazing.
The service was good. The food was bland and took a long time to come out. There was also a bean in the ranch of fried zucchini. The pizza cookie was doughy and had a lot of peanut butter chips.
