We met relations for our first post lockdown meeting for afternoon tea at Oulton Hall. The surroundings are beautiful but the place is clearly understaffed. It was not packed with visitors but there were queues everywhere; at reception, at the bar, etc. The quality of the afternoon tea was really poor especially for a place that advertises itself as a 5 star hotel. Sandwiches were basic and tasteless, scones were very dry, cake was dry, no choice of tea, very slow service. Had to search out staff for cutlery, cream and jam for scones and for a top-up of tea. Other people were also clearly waiting for long periods of time, and sadly the food was not worth the wait. Very disappointed and will...
what I wouldn’t have given for this today. Swapping a shredded tyre and £175 bill for a bottle of champagne and cakes! We visited @oulton.hall for the #ginafternoontea a few weeks ago. We did add the @perrierjouet rose to complete the afternoon which was perfectly chilled and served by the #headbutler Peter. The sandwiches were full and freshly made, the chicken tikka flatbread added a modern twist to afternoon tea and the scones still warm. There was more than enough for 2 and we even brought quite a few of the cakes home. An @taylors tea goody bag was a lovely touch when we left too. We ate at the restaurant when staying a the Hall. It's decor is a open to your interpretation (Dark red and black) ; personally I found it a bit dark and dramatic.The food was superb, sensibly priced and well presented served.Dinner was a choice of very good options and perfectly cooked.We stayed during Covid and the queues for breakfast were far too long, especially as we had pre-booked a time.Chef cooked a veggie sausage just for me, every day which was appreciated.
Just returned from a weekend away at Oulton Hall. From start to finish we were very happy with everything. We were met with a warm greeting, our room was clean, comfortable and well furnished, our delicious evening meal was served by friendly staff and the drawing room and seating areas were beautifully furnished. The hotel is well situated with lovely views across the countryside and there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area.

We had an afternoon tea with a voucher we were gifted. The hall and surroundings were beautiful. The staff were exemplary. We had one vegan afternoon tea and one regular. The food and service were absolutely lovely. Nothing was lacking in the vegan afternoon tea and everything down to the jam had been considered. We were already planning a return trip before we’d left!
Really enjoyed my My Mum’s afternoon tea voucher she’d had bought. Yousef was lovely to us all the staff were so nice to be fair. The sandwiches and cakes are fresh, delicious and plentiful. Lots of lovely hot tea.Really fine drawing room too. Would recommend Oulton Hall. Sorry we didn’t leave a tip!We just brought the voucher !! But we will return!
The food is exceptional had the artisan bread served with butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar to share, wild mushroom soup, rib eye steak, pan fried duck breast, blackcurrant parfait and burnt cream pannacotta with plum sorbet and plum gel. Absolutely amazing gorgeous food with exceptional service couldn't fault it.
Came here for afternoon tea to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I would highly recommend the afternoon tea good choice and delicious cakes and pastries. Yousef was particular attentive and he even arranged a special gift for my wife.

We came here for a meal last weekend and it was fantastic. Service and food were 10/10 and we couldn't be happier. We had the Sirloin and Ribeye, in which both were delicious. Very good service also :
Slow service. Plenty of staff but they didn’t seem to know what to do! Good food but such a shame it too 3.5 hours for a family meal,
