I have been here for both lunch and dinner. I really enjoyed Sandi's Smoked Salmon Sandwich Toasted Ciabatta Signature Smoked Salmon Fresh Mozzarella Roma Tomatoes Roasted Red Peppers Basil Pesto Mayo Field Greens Sweet Potato Fries for lunch. This is not the salmon you normally think of for a bagel and cream cheese. No, this is salmon they have smoked on site and works well in a sandwich as described. Out of the Fire is a lovely cafe and grill with a peaceful view. It's about 3min from the highway, just over a small rise, and it seems popular with folks from the area too. The building, to the back of a new-looking set of shops called Donegal Village Shoppes, presents a pleasant mid to up-scale decor. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and professional. This a cute restaurant for a night out while you're in the area. It was nicely decorated for Christmas and the service was good. Our drinks were great, everyone loved the seasonal cocktails and I enjoyed my seasonal mocktail! Next, their signature mushroom soup. It is delicious!!!!! Creamy with pieces of mushroom in it and the homemade croutons made it. You can buy the soup to take home too. Out of the Fire is a STAPLE to the Laurel Highlands. The most easy accessible and locally owned fine dining in Donegal. They are known for their smoked salmon mushroom soup but you honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. I've never had a dish here I didn't enjoy. The shareable smoked salmon platter is a must whether it's date night or a night out with friends or family. Lunch time or dinner, service is always fantastic and dishes come out beautifully plated. Was staying in the area for a weekend and this was the best place we ate. Came on Sunday evening and it was packed- maybe because it was the only place open on a holiday weekend, maybe because of how good it is? We didn't have reservations, but there were seats at the small bar so we went there. The bartender was super friendly and helpful so it was a great choice. We started with a pimento cheese dip when we found out they had gf crackers- a hard thing to find, and the dip was delicious! For dinner I went with Jessi's smoked salmon salad and my friend got a bun free burger and fries. We both really enjoyed it. After visiting Seven Springs, I found this restaurant to be a cool spot to relax. I ordered the Wagyu burger and a salmon salad. The burger was served hot and fresh, although it was a bit too seasoned with pepper for my taste. The salad was very fresh and included slices of mushrooms. The service was excellent, with everyone working hard to make customers feel welcome. The outdoor seating area is great, and inside there are two large windows offering beautiful views of the mountains. I was slightly surprised that the menu hasn't changed much since my last visit, as it still offers similar options.
Nice menu, good presentation, generous portions, great service. Mushroom soup is superb; several varieties of mushrooms and deep rich flavor. It is half a meal. The hummus plate came with nice crisp breads and pita wedges. We were not crazy about the crab and shrimp dip. My beesting cocktail was fun and a little skimpy in size but strong in vodka. This is a charming cafe located in the Laurel Highlands with a delicious salad. The selection of adult beverages is quite extensive and the staff is very friendly. I make it a point to visit every time I am in town. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.
