Appalling service by the wait staff at this cafe. No greeting by any of the workers, the worst being the waiter guy with the black bandanna head tie. We sat in the booth seating overlooking the jetty waters next to the front counter and this waiter who stood 1-2m away pretended not to see us, greet us etc and kept standing there by the bench absent-mindedly rearranging the glass cups and shuffling on his feet just next to our table . Meanwhile the other waitstaff are paired in twos talking amongst themselves and not doing actual serving work or cleaning.

Decent, smooth coffee although it's a little ridiculous to charge a public holiday surcharge of 15% in my opinion. Just don't open instead I say. The lids on the takeaway cups aren't great but they do the job. Service was average. I stood at the counter for a minute with 3 people seeing me and no body acknowledging me. Once I was acknowledged and served though the lady was friendly enough. For the amount of staff on there was a bit of a wait for my coffee too. It wasn't all that busy. I'd go back if nothing else was open but there's probably better places around.
My family and I all had the steak and guinness pie. The whole meal was excellent, not only the pie itself but the chips were delicious, and it come with a really nice gravy and plenty of it. We all enjoyed it very much and for the price I think it was great value. All the staff had smiles and were very pleasant, probably the best service I've come across for a long time. On top of that the views out to the boat harbour were magnificent, I would recommend Over Board to anyone.

Had lunch on Anzac Day afternoon, being the first time in this restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The service, atmosphere and view were great. Orders were taken with a smile and delivered in a timely manner and the prices were reasonable. The owner even stopped and had a chat when we were on our way out after an enjoyable afternoon. Definitely will be back.
Been here a few times for breaky. Food and coffee is good. I love the look of the restaurant and you get a nice view of the harbour and boats. Never had a problem with the food and staff has been always friendly. A bit pricey but around the same price range as other places on hillarys. I think it's worth it given the location tho :)
Nice view. I ordered the seafood platter for 2 here which comes with battered prawns fish and a few scallops. It was very average. They have signs all over the place that say "smile" & "dream" so I dreamt of getting out of here and that's when I smiled. Chips are **** also
The atmosphere was very welcoming and intriguing with quotes painted around the ceiling. The cutlets were cooked to perfection which were complimented by a mint dressing along with a salad and a bed of crispy sweet potato wedges. Has a beautiful view looking out to the boats.

Went for a salad for lunch. $24 for a salad seemed a little expensive for a salad so expected something special. The small salad received was not worth anywhere near $24. If at Hilary's Boat Harbour there are many more eateries provided much better value
Had a wonderful meal here this evening, service was great from start to finish and the food was very tasty and plentiful. We will be back very soon.
