This restaurant is in a great location near Whyte Avenue. The ambience is cozy and quite elegant. This is definitely a sit down restaurant. An interesting detail was the brown paper table runners protecting the tablecloths. I haven't really seen or noticed this in fancy restaurants. It seemed a bit odd to me. However, the table settings were attractive and sharp, with the red and black color scheme. A lot of the menu items sounded really tasty. I had a hard time deciding what to eat. I found the prices seemed pretty reasonable. Most of the lunch items were under $20. I opted for the Caesar Fried Chicken Sandwich with butter leaf, roma tomato, banana pepper jelly and a side of fries for $16....
Well, let me tell you something... I don't throw around 5 star reviews like Trump and those paper towels. But this place earned them! Packrat Louie's has a fantastic selection of cocktails and lots of quality rum, so we were pretty happy right off the bat. We started with Chicken Masala Perogies, spicy (not too much) and delicious with wonderfully caramelized onions and a tasty sour cream. Hubby had the soup of the day, a creamy tomato bisque. This is try number two for us. We came at a Monday at 5pm and the place was nearly empty. We were seated promptly and treated with an attentive sweet server. I love the atmosphere when it's quieter and they were playing very nice dinner music, really romantic. Firstly the homemade bread was unbelievable. I ate all mine within seconds and started in on hubby's. It was perfectly seasoned and the texture was just right. The chicken marsala perogies were beautifully plated and spiced well. My wife and I came for a late lunch after the farmers market, Nov 11th. In between lunch and dinner, so it was quiet. They recently renovated and it is very well done. Still very cozy but with modern touches. Service was great, and the food as well. My wife had the lemon pizza, a long time favourite, and it was as awesome as usual. I had a new item, The Burger, which was very good. Lean, with thousand island sauce, white cheddar and bacon. Bun was great, and the meat to bun ratio was perfect. Steak fries as well, which were good. They have always had some of the best fries in town. I would go back just for the Burger. Well done!
I was taken here for dinner after interviewing in Edmonton. It's tucked around a corner just off Whyte, lots of seating inside and pleasant interior. It was a Wednesday night so wasn't busy, the staff were very friendly and clearly recognized the folks taking me there so several people stopped by to say hello to them. The food was delicious and the drink selection was good. I had scallops, which were tender and flavourful, and a peach parfait dessert that was very tasty. Would certainly like to return to try some other dishes and as that company ended up offering me the job, hopefully I will have a chance to go back!
They closed the whyte ave location and didn’t check if there were future reservations through open table. We showed up and the place was closed. The website still has the close location on it too. When we contacted the jasper ave location, they said they canceled their open table account for the whyte ave location 3 weeks ago. We booked our anniversary dinner 2.5 months ago. Based on the poor customer service we will not go to the other location downtown ever.
Yeah! Really nice atmosphere and the service is really friendly but a teeny bit slow. They are super good with allergies or diet restrictions and they have really unique, delicious entrees which includes a lot of seafood and a few veggie options. Try the grapefruit rose wine, yum!

Food was good and came out in a timely manner. Waitress seemed uninterested in being at work and therefore showed in how she served us. Overall okay experience.
I found the cost for the quality not good. The ambiance was nice but the server was rushing us and the food was just ok. Shrimp way too salty, appetizers ok.
