While passing through Welland, I spotted this restaurant out of the corner of my eye. I had to make a U-turn to give it a try, and it turned out to be the best decision of the weekend! The atmosphere reminded me of restaurants in Colombia. I particularly enjoyed that the kitchen is open, allowing you to see the effort that goes into preparing the food. The owner was very friendly and provided helpful recommendations based on our preferences. Now, about the food: we ordered two arepas and a cachapa. Initially, I thought the arepas were a bit pricey, but once they arrived, I realized how generous and packed they were. The prices made sense, and honestly, I would probably pay even more cons...
The traditional Venezuelan food here is quite good! However, we encountered a problem with the staff when we mentioned that the empanadas were overly greasy; instead of addressing our concern, we were yelled at. We managed to move past that incident, but what I really can't overlook is the strong smell of cigarette smoke in the dining area and entrance. It's so overwhelming that it makes it hard to enjoy the food. I wish they could relocate to a better environment where their food could truly be appreciated.
Genuine, traditional spot, must try! They have a canadian menu that I 'm sure is delicious but must try the traditional venezuelan goodies. Everything is made with love, service feels like family. The arepas are amazing, make sure to try fresh. Some of the crispier foods may get soggy if ordered to-go due to the heat and condensation. Hope they get more business to grow and finalize the place ? Enjoy!
