We stumbled on this cafe after walking from a nearby campsite. There was a big flashing ‘open’ sign in the window and it looked welcoming on first impression. We sat down and my husband went to the counter to order and pay for drinks and lunch. Our drinks were brought out first, minus my sons bottled drink. Didn’t think much of it and assumed the waitress would be back, so waited. When the food arrived, again there was no drink for my son, and when we enquired as to where it was we were told ‘we had left it on the counter’ thought this was a little odd and rather rude (obviously my husband did not notice this when he ordered). Stayed at oakforge cottage in the villageand wondered down for a coffee in the Saturday. The latte was lovely! It's a cute little cafe, I wasn't expecting much from it but it actually exceeded my expectations. We went for breakfast the following day and the breakfast was so cheap I wasn't expecting it to be great but it was perfect! Have had some pretty rubbish breakfasts staying in hotels etc but everything was nice and warm the hash browns were crispy the mushrooms were warm and delicious and the bacon was nice a thick! The food came out quickly too.
We had our lunch today at the Penny Bank Cafe in Kirkbymoorside, the food was splendid and as I’m gluten free it was so nice to find somewhere that really knows how to serve up gluten free food at a price that everyone can afford, this cafe is also very homely and the staff very friendly and helpful making for a lovely relaxing lunch . Best breakfast in town and now opening weekend evenings with an impressive menu that offers residents some long awaited choice. Bring your own booze makes it very reasonably priced also.
I had a wonderful experience at this charming café. The service was excellent and I enjoyed a delicious brunch meal. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere a perfect rating of 5.
