It’s been a long time since we called in here. I’m sure we’ve had fish chips in at least a dozen places in several different countries. Among the most memorable was one on the Isle of Wight where the offering was darn good served with Japanese beer but truth be told this place is still the best. Drakes in York was our most recent and almost equally great. But Kilkeel Pit Stop is king. Now I’ve made the journey to Dolphin in Dungannon advertised as the big winner in NI but I disagree. Called here today for dinner with me my husband and 2 kids, ordered kids meals which were great value for money, me and husband ordered steak ciabbata and a large chip between us, shocked was understatement when steak ciabattas came out, peppered sauce mush and onions overload and I counted about 8 small peices of steak, pretty disappointed reported 2 a member of staff who to be honest just basically shrugged her shoulders and said that it was measured out and didn't seem to deal with complaint, pretty disgusted after spending almost £25 will not be back
Stopped in for something real nice. But we were overly impressed. The premises are spotless. The lady at the counter was so lovely! The food was so fresh it was not greasy at all. Which is very hard to find when everything’s deep-fried. We got a few bits to try the different options and everything was cooked to perfection. Must haves: Chicken burger, cod bites and their chips. Usually wouldn’t eat this type of food but this has convinced me otherwise. Will be back! 100% recommend when passing through Kikeel
My family attempted to dine at this restaurant tonight. The review I can give is as follows... Everyone can make a mistake... EVERYONE!!! But to be disrespectful when faced with it is completely unprofessional. It is the wrong industry to be in if this is how Pitstop handles their errors! I feel like my criticism was ignored and it is clear that our patronage is not valued. The level of rudeness displayed required effort... effort that could have been used to ensure our order was correct!!!

Nothing for vegetarians therefore lose the business for my whole family. If I can’t eat there then we’re all going somewhere else. Very disappointing in this day and age when there are more and more veggies and vegans out there. Chips and veggie burger all cooked in lard therefore not veggie. Used to love it here when I could get a pizza but they took that off the menu years ago. Was excited to notice they were doing a veggie burger but gutted when I found out it wasn’t even vegetarian.
The food was undercooked. When I tried to call the restaurant to explain, the chef answered and immediately hung up on me. I wasn't able to return the food, so I had to throw away £20 worth of food. The only thing that tasted right was the bottle of Coke. I won't be returning to this restaurant, as this was not the first time I've had a bad experience.
This restaurant in Kilkeel is a fantastic option for takeout. However, we experienced a lengthy wait and were disappointed to receive plastic sachets for the vinegar. This is not environmentally friendly! If they were to provide salt and vinegar at the point of sale, they would earn an additional star from me.
The fish was not as per the photos. Drove across to a caravan in Cranfield was cold. The order was correct and as requested. Not sure on the pricing as I did not pay.

Had the best cod I've had in a long time,fresh, generous portion, light crispy batter,a delight. No wonder they have received so many awards.
