Long overdue review for Pizza Bones, but had to get on here to share my glowing, overwhelming love for them due to their truly extraordinary pizza!!!! Okay, so if you're a fan of delicious crust (CHECK! , insanely flavorful cheese (CAN CONFIRM! , and then some really creative flavor combos with their specials (YAAAAS then Pizza Bones is for you. Their cheese pizza deserves a trophy because it is truly a work of art. I first discovered Pizza Bones when they were doing pop-ups in the kitchen of Carytown Cupcakes back in 2020, and I quickly became a fan! They cook their pizza to perfection, with a wonderfully crispy thin crust, which happens to be my favorite. The combination of basil, garlic, and cheese always keeps the flavors vibrant. I was excited to hear that they were opening a brick-and-mortar location; even though Church Hill is a bit of a trek from Carytown, it's definitely worth the journey for their pizzas. I had heard great things about their vegan pepperoni pizza, so I couldn't resist trying it myself! The staff at the counter also suggested I add vegan ricotta as a topping, which I happily did. This was my first experience with vegan pepperoni, and it looked and tasted so much like the real thing that I no longer feel like I'm missing out on "regular" pizza! The vegan ricotta was fantastic as well. While there are a few places in town that offer good vegan pizza options, this one stands out because of its thin, crispy crust. Plus, they generously add garlic, basil, and oregano on top for free, which makes for the perfect, flavorful finishing touch!
I initially discovered this restaurant on TikTok and, after reading the reviews, decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The pizza had a decent amount of cheese and was juicy, but it lacked flavor. Overall, it was just... okay. I ordered one cheese pizza and one pepperoni. The pepperoni was similarly bland and, dare I say it, a bit too salty. I probably won’t return, not because it was terrible, but because there are many other pizza places in the area that I want to explore, including some that I already love. The pizza at this place is incredibly tasty. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Currently, they only offer outdoor seating and takeout options. The outdoor area has a relaxed vibe, featuring picnic tables and charming bistro lights, which look beautiful at night. You can order wine by the bottle or by the glass, but keep in mind there's an uncorking fee if you choose a bottle. Overall, it's a fantastic spot in Church Hill!
The pizza was excessively greasy and salty—I ordered the pepperoni. I tried to soak up some of the grease with a paper towel, but, as the photos show, the pizza was still dripping with it. Despite the friendly staff and convenient location, my LDL levels and blood pressure can't handle this kind of assault. Chianti's continues to be my favorite pizza place in Richmond.
I?ve been here a few times now since they opened! The menu is simple and the pizza perfect! Every ingredient stands out in the best way possible- the dough being my favorite part. It?s perfectly chewy and flavorful. They also have had a side salad when I?ve been which was just has delicious! Service is great as well. I?m very happy to have pizza bones so close by!
The pizza is decent, though it leans a bit towards the greasy side. If you notice a lot of people in the restaurant, I suggest you pass on it; they really struggle with busy times. You could end up waiting over an hour for a simple pizza. I wouldn't recommend it. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I frequently visit with my family for their amazing pizza, incredibly friendly staff, and attentive service. They have an excellent selection of wines as well. The atmosphere is fantastic. We feel so fortunate to have PB in Richmond!
