The restaurant is housed in a converted railway station, so if you’re a fan of diesel trains, be sure to snag a window seat. The place is quite clean and has a lovely atmosphere. The service is excellent, and the food is good, though it might be a bit on the pricey side. I ordered a braised beef dish that was delicious, featuring plenty of tender meat served with mashed potatoes, but I felt it could have used more vegetables— I only got about three small slices of carrot. What a hidden gem! The atmosphere is adorable and the concept is truly charming. The service was quick, and the staff were incredibly friendly! As for the food—oh my, it was absolutely delicious! We tried the haggis bombs and a special dish featuring chicken breast stuffed with haggis, topped with ham and accompanied by a delightful sauce. It was perfection! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Lunch
Popped in for lunch on Monday and had one of the best meals we've had in the Highlands. We had duck spring rolls tempura prawns to start followed by Shetland mussels (deliciously plump) and blade of beef with winter veg (pure melt in the mouth). excellent service was recognized as soon as we came in and asked if we had booked, we said no what was not a problem. we were taken to a table and a menu, also asked which drinks we would like. we both went for the fish and chips that I would highly recommend, they cannot beat homemade chips. great value for money and friendly staff.
I had the most amazing Christmas dinner at Platform 1864! The food was absolutely out of this world, and I couldn’t have asked for better service. My glass was never empty, and the wait between courses was just right. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Thank you, Platform 1864, for a wonderful experience!
