I braved the rain today to escape the gloomy weather in Vancouver and try out a highly recommended coffee shop. I arrived at the train station-themed establishment around 5pm and was pleased to find a spot at the window bar. The menu was easy to navigate, offering a variety of bean options to choose from. Located on Broadway in Kits, this cafe is a popular hangout spot that is often bustling with customers. I was fortunate enough to find a seat and decided to try the Stumptown Milkshake and Deluxe Ham Breakfast. The milkshake was enjoyable, with a strong coffee flavor that was not too sweet. However, the Deluxe Ham Breakfast sandwich was a bit disappointing, as it lacked seasoning and flavor. The prices are slightly high, but reasonable considering the quality of the food. While I am not a fan of cafe culture, I believe this place is worth a visit just for their drinks. Platform 7 second shop opened on Broadway and it’s a pretty busy shop at all times of the day. The shops vibe is busier that their first shop on Hastings I would say. But the décor is very similar to the first shop. It was difficult for me to decide what to get. Do I stick with the usual latte or cappuccino for a nice Instagram picture? Or do I go with a drip coffee or maybe something different like a cold brew coffee? At the end of the day, I decided on something that they don’t usually offer at coffee shops which is a Stumptown Milkshake which consists of 2 shots of espresso, vanilla ice cream and vanilla syrup.

I’d just wrapped up lunch over at Ramen Sanpachi and was walking home, when my sweet tooth decided to take over. This happens once in a while… daily really. I get an uncontrollable urge that needs to be satiated one way or another, and a coffee in this case sounded like it would hit just the spot. Not wanting to go to a boring Starbucks, I remembered Platform 7 had just opened up their 2nd location in Kits which took over the former Higher Grounds coffee shop just down the street from me. The decision was made, and the sugar monster within was on auto pilot.
After finding the one in the Granview area, I decided to visit the one on Broadway as well. Once again, the interior was designed to resemble a platform at a train station. This cafe is truly unique and I absolutely love it! Unlike the other location, this one was not as crowded, possibly because it was a weeknight in the early evening. The restaurant is clean and has a hipster vibe. Even though the concrete wall is fake, it adds to the fun Disney-like atmosphere of the place.
I’ve not been this excited for a coffee shop opening in a really long time and it’s my pleasure to say that the new Platform 7 Cafe, in Kitsilano, was totally worth the wait. A really friendly group of employees, great coffee and food, as well as one of the most interesting venues I’ve seen in Vancouver.
Brewing Portland's Stumptown Coffee, Platform 7 has more of a corner shop or neighbourhood coffee shop feel compared to Vancouver's more prevalent brand of hip, minimalist, and more contemporary designs.

Great space. Any coffee shop that has an Areo Press option gets a thumbs up from me. The coffee is top shelf too. I haven't had anything other than a black coffee so can't comment much more
Don't know why this place doesn't have a better rating because I really liked it. Lack of plugs was a down for me. Coffee was amazing though.
