Playfair 's is a small steakhouse restaurant, very close to the famous golf course, The Old Course. It is located on one of the main streets of the small town of St Andrews, on North Street. I had high hopes based on the reviews, but unfortunately, my experience turned out to be disappointing. The service was good and the staff were responsive when I complained about a dish, which was promptly removed. However, I can only describe the food as poor. The sourdough was tasteless, the chicken supreme was inedible, and the chips were fried in old oil. We did not bring up all the issues, as the waiter was attentive and understanding. To make matters worse, I was unable to leave a tip on my card, as the waiter said it would not go through. The restaurant is in a good location, but I would recommend avoiding it.
served during the open wing satt and baked squid and chips. it tasted as if it were a frozen package from the island! barely fish and a few chips underneath. tiny lemon wedges on every teller and the fish of my wife burned. if we starve, we ate it, but the reflexion would have sent back. Service very slow even though the place was quiet. Some staff seemed to spend most of their time chatting. We only had a few snacks but they were very good. Outside area could have been cleaner. Staff were slow to clear tables so a large seagull did it for them.. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
excellent steakhouse within two blocks of the old course. two or three pairs of curses. we have chosen two courses: steak, chips, salat and dessert. we added oysters. with three rounds of drinks came the sum to about £80 including the congratulate. excellent service.
