My first trip to Pluto reminded me of the Nazi soup on Seinfeld... There is a method to order here. First a menu... there are two separate lines, one for salads and one for sides sandwiches. I recommend salad with steak... once you order, they make salad before you and let yourself decide what ingredients and dressing you want. The choices include tomatoes, cucumbers, green apples, crumbs, broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, grapes, cheese and much more. Once you get your food, take the menu and food to pay in cash. Then find a table and dig in! This is one of the cheaper places to eat in downtown Palo Alto. The food is simple, healthy and the portions are quite large.
Whyyyyyy close all the Pluto's, especially this location??? This is very sad. Decent, comfort food that didn't cost an arm and a leg like most everything else around here. And nice employees that I am really sad are without a place to work now! I've been coming here for 14 years and can't believe it's gone. It was one of the last mainstays on University. Thank you for having been open, I am so sorry to see you go. EDIT: Even though it says it's temporarily closed, it's closed. Even the phone is disconnected.
Plutos is the largest for salads. Create your own with a wide variety of toppings. Healthy, fill and fun. On the unhealthy side – try the onion rings! Freshly made huge rings of sweet onion. The sauce can be too spicy, so ask for Ranch Dressing – fabulous! The only thing that kept me from giving him 5 stars is the challenge of parking! Try the Barns Nobel bookstore when the street is full.
if you are looking for something healthy, fast and a touch gourmet, pluto offers salads and sandwiches at reasonable prices. for $7, I got a huge personal salad for lunch.
