I had heard great things about Poke Bros., so I decided to check it out last week. I really enjoyed the option to fully customize my poke bowl. Since I prefer simple sushi, being able to create a bowl that highlights the quality of the fish and rice is a big plus for me. There are plenty of fish and seafood options to choose from, including chicken and three types of tuna. My favorite is the Hawaiian Tuna, which comes with a light marinade that adds flavor without overwhelming the fish's quality. I was in town from Seattle with other business associates. We come to Poke Bros every time we are in town. Never had issues with the food before. Unfortunately, the raw fish and sauce was very salty, rice was hard, seaweed salad was also salty and tasted spoiled. This experience of the food was extremely disappointing. I visited the restaurant on a Sunday around 1:30 p.m., and everything was fantastic and served quickly. My husband ordered the Duke, while I opted for the make-your-own option. All the seasonings and ingredients were fresh and well-balanced. Poke is essentially sushi in a bowl, and this place lets you customize your meal in a Chipotle-style format. You can choose your base, protein, toppings, and more, and by the time you reach the end of the line, your meal is ready, and you just have to pay. The food was just okay for me. The fish I had was good, but in the photo I took, the ahi tuna (which wasn’t spicy) looked a bit past its prime. Some other dishes appeared to be older as well. The portion of rice was smaller than I anticipated, although it was warm and well-cooked. On another note, I was surprised to see that they charge for Masago—$1 for a relatively tiny scoop. Overall, the food was decent, but considering the price, it didn’t seem worth it to me. Just a heads-up: they charge $4 for each protein, so I opted for a half-and-half serving of spicy tuna and spicy salmon.
