We called in our order over the phone for pick up. Ordered a chicken family meal, half fried half rotisserie. Showed up about 30-40 min after we placed the order. It was a Saturday evening and the place was dead, not one customer eating inside. There were two employees, one person cooking and one person at the register/counter. 2xs now I ordered 2 orders of 16 piece chicken for my staff lunches. We ordered ahead, we ordered online. Both times we go in when order says it's ready and the 2 women didn't even put the chicken in the fryer until we walked in. My first time here and I had such a delicious lunch. The only reason I didn't give this place the full 5 stars is because I only tried a few items from their very extensive menu. The crispy chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese and hush puppies were made to order, hot and fresh from the fryer! The garlic aioli sauce was house made and super good The crinkle cut fries were such a nice touch and hot from the fryer as well. Ordered the 12 piece family meal…chicken was very crispy with good flavor. The sides were fantastic (mac&cheese, baked beans and plantains). The price seemed a bit high but after seeing the portion size and 5-6 pieces of corn bread, it was worth it. I gave it 5 stars based on the food and portion size but I did experience some of the same complaints as others…girl at the counter was on her phone the entire time. It took 30 minutes to make the chicken but now I know to order ahead.
I would recommend skipping this restaurant and trying somewhere else. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with fries. The service was good, but the food was mediocre at best. I unfortunately cannot recommend anything from this place. The soda machine was broken and there were no napkins at the table or counter, so I had to clean my hands with what I had in my car. It seems like this restaurant has seen better days and may be on the verge of closing. Wishing the best for the staff.
Got the BBQ chicken and the Jerk Chicken. (2 portions of each). Small portion for $15( one thigh piece and fries in each order , see attached picture). In terms of flavor BBQ chicken was average and jerk chicken was below average (albeit both chicken were cooked well they were juicy). Tried the place on BOGO promo on ubereats. Overall , The items I ordered definitely not worth the money. I might come back to try other things.
This was the first time I had soul food since I got to New Jersey and it was spot on. The food was hot and fresh and not greasy. I ordered a shrimp poboy which was more like a sandwich on buns instead of a hoagie but it was extremely flavorful. My only issues were that the condiments are the tiny little cups of hot sauce and tarter sauce and that the catfish tasted like swai or basa.
As for the food, the macaroni had no seasoning, and neither did the chicken. While the food was moist, it lacked any flavor. I was quite disappointed with my experience. I would have considered giving this place a second chance if it weren't for the woman who took my order. I have no plans to return and will advise others against visiting this establishment.
