Having lived in Chicago previously, I was thrilled to discover this, with their Chicago Style hot dogs. They're just as I remember them, as is the Maxwell Street polish sausage. The onion rings are probably my favorite of any place, as the batter is crunchy yet light, and it doesn't overpower the onions. The portions, when it comes to fries and onion rings and drinks, are quite large. I could do with smaller drink size availability. This experience was so disappointing! People waiting inside the restaurant for food had a 30-minute delay in receiving their orders! The drive-through seemed to be served in a timely manner. Multiple staff were working on a large to-go lunch order, and not cooking for those in-house. We all were asking about the status of our orders to get our food. Three people waiting with me were at Portillos for their first time. All said they won 't return. When my food arrived, it was hot and delicious. It was a great last minute road trip to go to Maple Grove, MN MPLS) to eat at Portillo's restaurant. Portillo's has late night hours. The service was friendly and helpful from start to finish. Since we had driven such a long way we ordered a lot. I'm definitely a foodie when I travel. I had the best Chicago style hotdog. I also tried a Strawberry and Lemon cake shake. The cake is inside the shake very sweet and I couldn't eat but a third of it. I liked the crinkle cut fries and also tried a bite of a hamburger. I also got the onion rings, which were perfectly crunchy—definitely a plus in my book—and a small chocolate cake shake that was delightful and more than I could finish after my meal. The portion sizes were just right—generous but not overwhelming. The only reason I didn’t give a full 5 stars is that the bathrooms and dining room tables could use a bit more attention. I chose not to use the restroom aside from washing my hands, but thankfully, a friendly dining area attendant was available and offered to help us with anything we needed, even wiping down a table for us.

We received our food quickly, and the restaurant was clean with a charming old-school atmosphere. The staff was excellent! The kids enjoyed their chicken fingers, cheeseburger, and fries. The hot dogs were tasty as well. If you're not a fan of vegetables, just a heads up that the hot dogs come with a large tomato slice and a unique-looking relish. Overall, we were very impressed.
The atmosphere, service and food were all above average for a hot dog joint. My wife likes the coney dog- a hot dog is a hot dog, except for Portillo’s. I love the Italian beef sandwich and Greek salad which we tried today for the first time. They were excellent and we would order them again. The place was very clean and welcoming. They have a variety of food choices.
The food is surprisingly good for fast food. It's a bit pricey—$19 for an Italian beef sandwich with cheese (an extra $0.75) and sweet peppers (another $0.75), along with a small fry and a small drink. The staff were friendly and provided an excellent recommendation. The meal was quite filling, so I decided against getting a shake, but I've heard they’re fantastic.
Maxwell street polish is my favorite menu item. Hubs likes the hotdogs and onion rings. We're always tempted by the cake and when we do give in, it is tasty! The wait for food seems long. All the ice in my tea was melted by the time we got our food. Not sure if they just didn't put enough ice in it to start or went that was.

The service was okay, and the food was better than I thought it would be. The Chicago dog was great, and the onion rings and cheese fries were very good. The star was the chocolate cake shake, and the strawberry lemon cake shake was really tasty.
This was tasty food and good service. Not cheap for fast food but tasty. The big Italian was great burgers were tasty too.
