The food at Porto Falafel is excellent! If you’re looking for good Middle Eastern food in the Maplewood/Millburn area, definitely try this place.I had the falafel sandwich and it was delicious! The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, especially the falafel. I also had a lentil soup, and the soup was ON POINT delicious and not spicy! I also had hummus pita. This place doesn’t even deserve a star. How about a negative star? There are many reasons for this rating. We were overcharged. Plus the food was lousy! The meat was not cooked and pink inside. We ordered a mix and got a very small potion and 1 piece of pita bread and less than a quarter portion of salad. What. a ripoff! The food also had no flavor. We also notice a charge on the bill and when questioned we were told it was due to the prices going up on all their items….if that’s the case why was it listed as a separate charge? Again big ripoff! Are you looking for authentic? Look no further. I had gotten to a point where I decided falafels weren’t for me. UNTIL TODAY!! The falafels I had here were crispy hot and delicious even the sauce they provided was delectable. The moussaka was to die for and I also ordered a mixed shawarma platter also very very tasty. Would highly recommend this place 1. For authenticity and 2. Flavors are on point. They also brought the food out very fast. How could I forget about their spicy hummus ? sooo good please come down and try and don’t just take my word for it.
Similar to the previous review, I ordered food online only to find the restaurant closed when I went to pick it up. A neighbor informed me that the restaurant had been closed for weeks. After multiple attempts to contact them, I was told to reach out to their credit card processing system for a refund, but no further details were provided. Ultimately, I had to dispute the charge with my bank in hopes of getting my money back.

Overpriced. The menu prices are wrong and can be up to double what it really is. FRAUD. The food is certainly not worth the bait and switch pricing. For example they may list fries as $3 but charge you $5. They may list sandwich at $7 but actually charge you $10. The entrees can be up to 6 dollars more than what they will actually charge you. Correct your menus or weights and measures may pay you a visit.
I had a bad experience at this restaurant. I had been there once before and the food was pretty good, but this time I ordered Uber Eats without knowing they were about to close. Unfortunately, the food arrived cold and the falafel was dry and seemed old, with some pieces even burnt. I was very disappointed and dissatisfied.
The staff was very nice! The Juice was delicious, the salad was tasty and refreshing but the best part was the chicken Shawarma bowl with pita chips and rice! It was amazing! The spices and sauce was incredible! I left full and happy! Highly recommend this fine restaurant
I have been ordering food from this restaurant over a year, and I never complained about anything before, but today, the service quality is low. The container was 1/2 empty. Well, they just lost a loyal customer

I have ordered few times from this place and all the times were disappointing. From falafel to different shawarma. The lamb was tough chewy, falafel was bland.. etc The area needs good Egyptian food
