Our meal here was a disaster! We had planned on this pousada as our second to last stop before returning to Canada. We always consider the pousadas as “something special” ... and this added to our disappointment. Our disaster started with the substitution of a sparkling wine (6Euros/glass), with a vinho verde (8 Euros/glass), without consultation. Then came the first course goat cheese in filo and it was burned to a crisp. As soon as the waiter caught my eye, he came back to the table and took it away. Next came the main course...for me it was “spring” lamb ... and it was served on mushed sweet potatoes and puréed something maybe spinach ... but serving two “soft” additions to the main entre...
The Pousada de Palmela is a nice place to stay, and the restaurant is certainly acceptable. However, for the money, you can do better either in Palmela or Setubal. The convenience of staying inside the hotel certainly makes it worthwhile, but when you get the world's best tasting fresh fish almost anywhere along the coast for less money than the meals here, it's worth exploring. The 30 euro package dinner has been going for it however: it filled us up but good!
While we ate indoors due to the weather, it must be quite pleasant to have dinner in the courtyard during one of the other seasons of the year. The restaurant has an interesting menu offering a variety of local dishes.

Arrived at the Pousada late but they squeezed us in for dinner. Enjoyed an excellent meal with adequate service complimented by good wine.
Excelente. Gostei bem acolhedor. Situa-se dentro de um castelo medieval, com uma sensação de tranquilidade imensa.
