Disappointing and brief. My husband and I visited Prairie House for date night, drawn in by its appealing ambiance. The interior is lovely, and the live musician had a captivating voice that complemented the cozy decor. However, the meal itself fell flat. The Burnt Ends appetizer was dry and lukewarm, accompanied by overcooked onions and peppers. The New York strip steak was tough and full of gristle, making it difficult to enjoy. The mushrooms had a nice texture but lacked flavor. While the vegetable kebab was a nice addition, it had too little coating and cooled down too quickly. I recently discovered this place, and wanted to stop by for lunch. I came in for lunch and I was told about a chicken fried ribeye. I also got the brisket burnt ends for my appetizer. The chicken fried ribeye isn't on their actual menu, but if you request it, they will serve it to you. They did, and my goodness gracious it was outstanding. It's 16 oz. breaded and fried perfectly, and the steak cut like butter. I also got gravy for the steak on the side, bacon white mac n' cheese and mashed taters for my 2 sides. I hear all the time about the best chicken fried steaks in DFW, and I cannot belive this one is never mentioned. Hopefully word gets out that they make one of the best chicken fried...
If you haven't visited Prairie House in old Town Lewisville you are missing out!! Ladies and gentlemen...The atmosphere here superb, the large impeccable bar was and townhouse features are absolutely stunning! My waitresses was named MIA, she was the best waitresses I've ever had, it was like telepathic almost how she knew exactly what type of drink I needed, the food was delicious, everything was visually yummy, and tasted just like this picture! I have no idea why this place doesn't have 5 stars. I'm going back...ASAP this dessert menu I need to sample, and please ? yall try the fried ribs!! I had a great experience at this restaurant for lunch. It wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon. I tried the BBQ Trio, and the sausage was outstanding. I also enjoyed some cocktails, with the Bluebonnet being my favorite. I ordered a salad that was decent, and we also got a chicken fried steak sandwich, which was tasty, though I wished it had a bit more substance. We requested some extra toppings, but the server forgot, which is fine. I'd definitely consider returning, perhaps for dinner, if I'm ever back in the North DFW area.
So this place is GORGEOUS! The whole decor theme is executed so very well! From outside to inside, just lovely! It scores extra points for us because one of the rusty old tractors outside is made by a brand called Oliver and that just happens to be the name of our son, so extra photo ops and photos were snagged with it. The food was great and portions were large for the prices! Our server was stretched thin but she did her best keeping up with refills and getting the food out to us. Can?t wait to go again!

I ordered the brisket tips and chicken breast, but I couldn't finish either. My wife ordered an 8 oz sirloin and left half of it uneaten, including all of the okra. The hostess seemed a bit overwhelmed, but our waitress was friendly once she finally attended to us, despite the long wait.

I just love the relaxed ambiance of Prairie House. A former feed store redecorated with items from the past. It's beautifully done. Our orders were cooked to perfection with the best seasonings and flavors. When you think of these meals, they do them right. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and took great care of us.
