Buffet food was so good; salmon cooked to perfection. Chicken amazing tender and juicy. Pasta out of this world so good. Craving station roast beef pink, medium rare. Only downside; no horseradish. Brussel sprouts perfectly cooked and they didn’t have that strong Brussels sprout taste. Roasted Califlower so yummy. Nothing was overcooked, great selection, wonderful venue, quiet can have a conversation without straining to be heard. And the Caesar salad was to die to for. The mashed potatoes creamy, buttery, smooth, seasoned perfectly; giving One Market a run for their money as to which restaurant has the best mashed potatoes in town! Prelude is my go-to for pre-SF Ballet performance dinner. The staff is exceptionally attune to the countdown, never rushed, always kind and accommodating. At times I attend solo, and this is the perfect sanctuary. The restaurant offers both buffet or a la carte items, and bonus, they allow you to pause your meal at your table, to return at intermission. Delightful, zero stress way to fully immerse yourself into the beautiful Opera House experiance.
We always enjoy our meals at this restaurant. The buffet selection is extensive and offers options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. There are multiple salads, vegetable sides, as well as meat and fish choices to choose from. They also have an a la carte menu, but we have not tried it yet. The desserts are delicious. Although a full meal for two is not cheap, the convenience of dining here is worth it, especially on cold and rainy days.
The staff at the restaurant is superb, being very attentive and kind. They even went out of their way to help me with a spot on my clothes! The food was also fantastic, with a wide variety of fresh and high-quality options. However, we did find the prices to be a bit steep, so we may not dine here frequently for that reason. Perhaps offering a more affordable menu with fewer choices could be a good solution.

We always enjoy having lunch at Prelude at the Opera restaurant! The food is so wonderful, we always choose the buffet, and it 's so fresh, and delicious and healthy and wonderful! We had excellent service and friendly wait staff. Thanks for another memorable before the ballet lunch. :
The food at this restaurant was awful. The portion sizes were insanely small. The dishes sounded good on the menu but were nothing like what was actually served. They charged $150, but the meal was only worth about $30.
All the food was excellent except the chicken. It was overcooked and dry. But that was the only bad selection out of many.
Service excellent and pleasant. Salads ok, warm dishes good. Wine selection but he glass has narrowed.
