Just to clarify, this is a BYOB restaurant! While we waited for our table at the bar, several guests attempted to order drinks... but there's no alcohol available! Now, onto our review... it was excellent! We often approach steakhouses with some skepticism. We started with the U12 Shrimp Cocktail, which was a great choice because you can enjoy as much or as little as you want. For our main course, we both had the NY Strip paired with a 5oz Lobster Tail. It was cooked to perfection, well-seasoned, and incredibly delicious. I added the garlic peppercorn sauce, which enhanced the dish even more. The meal was rounded out beautifully with crusty bread and dipping oils, a Truffle Yukon Potato side...
I left a lengthy one on resy but I wanted to leave one here, too! So thrilled to find this absolutely fantastic place for dinner! Everything we enjoyed was seasoned so perfectly, everything was so fresh. Under starters the eggplant was outrageous- i don't normally order that- buratta, German sausage bites, will all surprise you. Under mains, I had the best fillet. Can't remember the last time I had a steak this good. charred on outside, fantastic seasoning, and PERFECTLY cooked. We all absolutely raved and are trying to figure out how fast we can go back! Not your average Cape May dining experience. When my husband and I want a truly delicious and romantic meal we plan on Primal to provide that. Professional wait staff, glorious beachside views and not least of all food that is prepared by people who care about what comes out of the kitchen and your enjoyment. Little unexpected touches like salad, bread and the perfect bite of dessert will round out your evening. This is a must for everyone that enjoys a restaurant that knows a thing or two about hospitality.
Primal is spectacular from every aspect the atmosphere, the service, and THE FOOD. Not only is the quality of the steak and seafood the highest, the seasonal appetizers and sides, the flavors of the accompaniments, the homemade bread and desserts, and the salad are all extraordinary. There is nothing to criticize! Everyone that works there is proud and happy which speaks volumes. Our standards are high, and Primal is top tier. Mia and Joe have created perfection! WOW ! Can’t wait to come back, we had the tuna tartar, scallop /crab/ shrimp appetizer delicious! My husband had filet and lobster tail I had NY strip and lobster tail, steaks were cooked just to our liking and it was the best lobster tail I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was very welcoming. I have eaten here numerous times over the last couple years but our most recent visit took the cake! Every detail was attended to and the food was amazing! I can't get enough of this place! As I write this review, my mouth waters at the memories of Chef Mia’s incredibly bold and sophisticated flavors in every dish.
