Bakeries and patisseries are my idea of heaven and they don't come much better than Provence in Camberwell. With a big European influence in both the food and decor, this place is a pastry lovers paradise.<br/ <br/ With a small but fresh space, lots of white with marble tables and Bentwood chairs; Provence has that French cafe appeal. Service is great and the staff are lovely and welcoming. The coffee is also really good.<br/ <br/ I can never pass up an almond croissant, and these were absolutely delicious. Fo0die dined as a guest of Provence Artisan Bakers Cafe and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.<br/ <br/ We arrived at the venue on a Sunday and found parking easily on Broadway which had all day parking on a Sunday.<br/ <br/ The cosy Provence Artisan Bakers Cafe has been opened for 7 years with a sibling store in Hawthorn which opened a year ago. With the aim to be known as an artisan bakery, the venue is named after a small town in France. So what does artisan bakery mean? It refers to bakery goods that are made by hand using the traditional methods. Everything is baked on site fresh daily at this bakery cafe.
4.5 Having walked past this bakery at least a couple dozen times, we are so glad to have finally discovered Provence Artisan Bakers.It’s no surprise we found ourselves in this cozy French inspired cafe that’s bustling with locals on a Sunday afternoon. Their extensive range of baked goods taste every bit as good as they look, and we’re just amazed there’s no line out the door. Yet.
I tried the apricot and fig muffin, which was filled with huge chunks of fig. It made the muffin incredibly moist and delicious. The blueberry muffin was quite standard. However, the bread pudding muffin was a delightful surprise. It captured all the flavors and brought back wonderful memories of bread pudding from the past. These bakers are definitely artisans! During a brief visit for breakfast, I chose the vegetarian breakfast tart along with a coffee, and I was not disappointed. The tart, filled with egg, feta, and spinach, was flavorful, and the pastry was wonderfully flaky. Overall, I would rate Provence a solid 4.5 out of 5 and look forward to returning to sample one of their Portuguese tarts.
Picked up a raspberry jam donut here, a custard donut, and a croissant. Whilst the croissant was average, the donuts were relish, with lovely dough and filling. Looking forward to returning and trying other things.
I just had their berry tart and it was absolutely heavenly. The flavors and the shortbread crust are simply delicious. What more can I say? This place is a must-visit!

I’ve had sweet and savory pastries from Provence and they have all been delicious. The Portuguese tarts and almond croissants in particular have been superb.
