Showed up late afternoon on a weekday so no line. Chicken ham sandwich reportedly was very good. Sausages were good, though not as spicy as you might expect if you're used to Texas hot links or hot guts. Brisket point was perfectly cooked, sliced separately from the flat (not in one piece with the deckle). bark was lighter than I like, but the fat render was excellent. I spotted a big Alto-Shaam holding oven in the kitchen so I figure they hold a long time to get that fat render. Light smoke flavor on everything. Plenty of meat in the baked beans. Red beans and rice were a little disappointing (I learned that recipe with tons of tasso, filet and the beans cooked down into a superdense goo)....
We hired Q Fanatic to cater a party, and it was nothing short of AMAZING! You won't find better food or service anywhere else. Hannah did a fantastic job helping us plan our menu, and Bruno, who managed the delivery, was extremely professional and accommodating. Their prices are also quite reasonable. Now, let’s talk about the FOOD! It was absolutely delicious. We hosted around 60 guests, and everyone went back for seconds and even thirds. Many guests asked for details about Q Fanatic for their own upcoming events, and some were already fans of theirs. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful our experience was, and I’m incredibly grateful to the entire team for making it all happen.
The meat here is exceptional! Fortunately, it's so rich in flavor that we didn't mind the sauces, which we found a bit underwhelming. The potato salad was quite bland, while the coleslaw had good taste but was lacking in color and texture; it could have used ingredients like celery seed, carrots, and red cabbage. The garlic bread was just average. On a positive note, the potato wedges are fantastic! The service is quick, and the cooks and cashiers are friendly—nothing extraordinary, but certainly pleasant enough. Overall, I highly recommend trying any of the meats; just be cautious with the sides. The quality of the meat justifies the price!
We had Q Fanatic cater an event for about 100 people at my workplace, and it was a fantastic experience. Charlie and his daughter were a pleasure to work with, and the food was absolutely incredible! Everyone raved about it, and many people expressed their excitement about bringing their families to the restaurant. I went for dinner on September 25, 2022, and discovered a handwritten note on the door indicating that the restaurant has permanently closed, although the Champlin location is still open. It's really disappointing, as this was by far the best BBQ place on the south side of the city, if not in the whole region. I sincerely hope they find a way to reopen, and if they do, I'll be more than happy to update or remove this review.
Do yourself a favor. Order from the website or by phone. Also order extra sides if you want a balance ed meal. I've been eating Q fanatic food since the first week it opened. It's a shame what the pandemic has done to this and other businesses like this. Walking in and ordering at the counter was a big disappointment and the1/2 pint sides are just too small.
My partner and I went to Q-Fanatic since he absolutely loves barbecue. This was my first time at a BBQ restaurant, and I had a wonderful experience! The meats were incredibly tender and juicy, and I really enjoyed the side dishes as well. The restaurant's atmosphere was fantastic; it had a laid-back and welcoming vibe. Overall, I had an amazing time!
This restaurant is fantastic, thanks to its wonderful staff! They are consistently attentive and offer superb recommendations. Ordering in advance through their website can significantly speed up your visit. If you're driving to the Minneapolis location, make sure to check their break times, as they close for an hour. This place has delicious food!! I always get the Philly Q sandwich and the grilled veggies. I showed this place to a friend and he went back 3 days in a row! Its been a while since I have been back because I always seem to pass by when the restaurant is closed.
