Washago is just north of Orillia. It is a pretty village on the shores of Lake Couchiching, with a “big” heart. All retailers are friendly, helpful and appreciate the business, including the L.C.B.O. Washago is a caring community. It has an active Lion’s club, a...community painted water tower and a garden with a welcoming yellow door. There are community events year round.. A bonus is free parking. The R cottage restaurant has a rustic decor that is tastefully decorated and a giant Muskoka chair outside. Washago is a convenient half-way stop off between the city and the Muskokas so we regularly take a break here. Our normal diner was closed for winter holidays, so we tried this place and were pleasantly surprised. Although very small we managed to...squeeze ourselves in, and just in time too it was a Sunday lunchtime and several guests were turned away after us, as they didn’t have bookings. All of us enjoyed our food, as it felt like someone really cared about the quality of the ingredients, and their preparation the smoked meats were not too over sweetened, a fault I have not got used to at other restaurants in Ontario. I think these guys are just going to have to get bigger premises.
Great atmosphere , service and generous portions !!! Our group started with Kettle chips Buffalo dip which was a perfect start . Our table choices : meatloaf which was crazy good cranberry sets it apart , shrimp tacos great sauce .., Cheese Mac that makes ya want to get an order go ! Ya got to try this place
Their lunch sandwiches are all very good, tasty and generous portion size. Their washroom is well maintained and clean. Came from a long trip but only had sandwiches available for lunch, I just wish they would have their rotisserie chicken and ribs available all day....
Haven’t been for a while due to the pandemic but seems they haven’t skipped a beat. The Ruben sandwich was so tasting the the Beef Dip was also melt in your mouth good. Worth a visit
We were here for a family dinner on a Friday evening. Since restaurants had just reopened, it was very busy but everyone enjoyed their dinner. We sat inside which was very pleasant.
Excellent place for lunch drinks. The food was superb plentiful. It was served by someone that really cared about our experience (and the other guests too). Go you will like it!
They are currently open for take-out only but that has not diminished the quality of the food. They can get busy on weekend evenings so order ahead and pickup.
Great place . Food is very good (meat). Done fresh of the day. Nice place cosy easy to find. Recommend for a quick lunch in a warm full place
