Nestled in a lovely walled space adorned with twinkly lights and equipped with heaters for comfort, our dining experience at R40 was nothing short of delightful. Opting for outdoor seating, we were immediately drawn to the inviting ambiance. To start, we indulged in the Warm Olives and Sweet Onion Focaccia appetizers, which set the tone for the culinary journey ahead. The olives were perfectly seasoned, and the focaccia was irresistibly fluffy with a subtle hint of sweetness. Had a birthday dinner here on a Tuesday, so it was relatively quiet evening. Food was excellent and without a doubt deliciously prepared. I did have an issue with the waitress. Maybe it was a bad day for her, but she was not very welcoming, and at times, seemed quite impatient or annoyed with us. This kind of ruined our experience, but we tried to ignore it. The whole time, I was kind and friendly to her and the staff, even tipped her nicely since it was a quiet and rainy evening with only 3 tables including us. We ordered the 36 oz 45 day aged Rib Eye. It is not worth $225. For $225 , first visually it was a mess. Secondly we could not see the cut of meat. for $225 the cut/meat should be showcased. It should be a center piece. Also, it was pre sliced which is always a disappointment. There was an excessive amount of fat and a sinew throughout. One of our guests had the skirt steak which was much better value. For $225 the reaction at the table should be wow not what?? After spending a total of $700, walked away very disappointed. Hope this will help them to be better.
Excellent food, but VERY expensive. Particularly for Queens. Service was bizarre (slow to get us drinks, tiny water glasses that had to be refilled every 5 seconds, our food got explained to us in detail when it was served why? We ordered it, we know what it is). Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We come pretty often as we live in LIC. Sunday nights are still new for them and they don’t have their A- team working in front of house. However the food was incredible as always.
Overall the atmosphere was great. The service was ok, did seem a little slow. The food tasted great!
