Enjoyed a lovely dinner. As another reviewer wrote, the salad that comes with the entree is quite small and singular (mine had just rocket and croutons) with a good dressing. Given that, at least one other option for a salad would be nice. The salmon entree was very good though the fennel topping was, for me, too strong. The slice of frittata that accompanied the salmon was a little slice of heaven! The best part of the meal was the most delicious bread pudding dessert ever! SO glad I chose it. The service was good, the only detraction being the waitress making it obvious she was ready for us to leave; up until then, a pleasure. I would like to rate this restaurant a 4.5 but it's not quite a 5, so a 4 it is. I arrived by myself without a reservations out 6:45 and was promptly seated. The wine list is good but not great so I ordered an old fashioned to start. Excellent drink made with local bourbon. I ordered the Penne Bolognese with a small(teeny, tiny) side salad with greens and a few rock hard croutons. Note to self, get the soup next time. There are no other salads On the menu other than the main dishes so this could be improved a bit. Either offer a slightly larger and better salad with the main dish or offer Some Small salads as Starters. The main dish was excellent as was the glass of Pinot I had with it. Serv...
We love coming here for a special dining experience. I recommend making a reservation, because seating is limited. They have a great wine list, and the food is all so delicious. I have gotten the Bolognese twice, it's so dang good. Last night they had a butternut squash soup that usually I wouldn't go for, but had to steal some from my fiancé because it was very good. We've had the same waitress both times and she was so nice. We will continue to come back here for special occasions!
We decided to try their curbside service tonight and we are so happy we did! As soon as we got home, we dug into our dinner. It wasn't the same as dining in at Rafn's with its lovely ambiance, but we still had a fantastic meal. We felt spoiled and satisfied by the delicious food. Being able to enjoy such a luxurious meal while staying home during Covid19 was a real treat.
The food, service, and atmosphere at this restaurant are outstanding. If you're looking for a place to enjoy fine dining in Salem, this is it. The restaurant has a romantic atmosphere and is located in a cozy downtown area.
How is this place not getting more buzz? It's as good as anything in Portland. A real high quality farm to table experience, with food bordering on art. Friendly, classy staff. We will be coming back here for sure.
