I used to believe that racism was a trait of the ignorant, but my experience at this restaurant changed my perspective. I went there to buy pizza and lasagna, speaking to the owner in fluent Italian, as it is my native language. Instead of appreciating my effort, he responded with anger and bluntness, questioning why I was speaking to him in Italian and insisted that "here we speak English." It felt like he was bothered by the fact that someone with darker skin was enjoying Italian food in his establishment.

To make matters worse, he charged me $15.90 for the lasagna, which was supposed to be $12.90 according to the menu, and he didn’t even give me a receipt. While I was waiting for my order, a white customer came in to pick up his meal, and the owner immediately struck up a conversation with him and offered him a complimentary drink. This made me feel undervalued, both because of my skin color and despite my effort to speak his native language. It was a truly disappointing experience.
We order from here all the time and always ask for our pizzas well done. This is the first time it came completely burnt. When I called to tell them about it I was told that's what happens when you ask for it well done. and then was told he could give me 15% off my next pizza. He also told me if it was that burnt they would have never sent it out. Well they did and it was that burnt. Just because he was that rude I will not be ordering again and our orders are never small.

I ordered online and requested a large Italian sub with oil and mayo on the side. Unfortunately, the bread wasn't toasted, and there was no oil, vinegar, or mayo included. The original owners would never have let such a poorly made sandwich leave their kitchen, even with the mistakes. I do not recommend this place!

During my visit from out of state, I heard that Ralph's serves the best pizza in New Jersey. I have to say, I wholeheartedly agree! I also ordered a roast beef sandwich, which looked just as appetizing as the picture I saw online, and it tasted fantastic. I can't wait to return!

Every time I visit Carlstadt, I always eat at Ralph?s. Surely the owner can be a little abrupt, but it? New Jersey. The Penne Wodka Pasta is seriously some of the best I ever had. Take it with sausage!
