Raten - Tisch resevieren

Unfortunately I had a rather disappointing lunch experience here.A few positive things first:- The location is unbeatable - directly at Raten (1077m) with a wonderful panorama - and easily reached with public transportation (hourly bus connection from Zug via Oberaegeri).- The dishes are classic and good. As starter I opted for a lamb leaf salad with mushrooms and air-dried meat: fresh and tasty. As main course the calf liver with roesti did its job properly. The dessert was a homemade apple cream - light and refreshing.However my lunch was really let down by the disorganized service.- Upon arrival and despite having booked a table, three staff members completely ignored me! We had family visiting from the Netherlands and spent last Sunday, 28/2/16 at the Raten which of course included lunch at the Restaurant Raten. Luckily I booked and we had a lovely table in a corner by the window - best table in the restaurant. I had an excellent lamb bouillon with fresh herb starter, followed by good old-fashioned Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (thinly sliced veal in a mushroom-cream sauce), Rösti and fresh spinach. Alas I couldn't fit any dessert in and had to finish with coffee only (which was also excellent). Afterwards we went for a long, slow walk through the forest before catching the second last bus home. Very well situated in green meadows on the Raten Pass road between Oberägeri and Biberbrugg. Large, modern and very bright restaurant with plenty of window spaces and plenty of parking on a weekday. We came here for lunch on a mid-week drive, there were plenty of people here but we had no problems getting a table without reservations. However, we understand that the restaurant can be very busy on weekends and in top season. Service was quite friendly and efficient. I was here to have a drink while a friend was having dinner. The restaurant is located nicely with a great view on the mountains. It was clean and service was friendly. They serve local food and it looked good. If you are planning to visit the place during the weekends be prepared that it might be crowded as the Raten is a popular place to go for hikes.I would not go there for the food alone but if you are looking for a restaurant to enjoy the end of day outside then this is a good choice. You get a wonderful scenery for free... the rest is not very cheap but affordable. The menus are very delicious. It is a good restaurant for a short trip. We wouldn't recommend to do weddings or other parties there, but you can go for a short walk there or walk down to wonderful Village of Oberägeri, or even have later on a swim in Lake Aegeri. We recommend it strongly to visit at least once.

Restaurant Raten has a nice terrace with a beautiful view on lake Aegeri and the mountains of central Switzerland.They have a great variety of food, mainly Swiss, local specialities which change with the seasons.We went for the venison and the roasted chicken. Service was fast and the food was excellent. They have a nice playground for kids.

What a great location above Oberageri. Take the bus up, have a lovely lunch and then walk back down through the woods and fields. Excellent food and service in the restaurant, and lots of other walks nearby if you want more time to admire the views. Made a great day out from Zug.

A beautiful restaurant with immense attention to detail and great service made for a perfect 70th birthday lunch with my family. Schreckliche Erfahrung Wir aßen zu Abend und alles war extrem salzig, selbst für Leute, die salziges Essen mögen, war es extrem salzig. Wir haben mit der Kellnerin darüber gesprochen, aber überhaupt kein Mitgefühl. Es ist ein Restaurant, das ich auf keinen Fall empfehlen werde

Fantastischer Abenddrink bei untergehender Sonne. Ein schöner Ort, den man als Vase für einen Spaziergang nutzen kann. Wir waren begeistert, einen Fensterplatz zu finden. Toller Service, tolle Getränke und fantastisches Eis
