My friend wanted to buy some scones before we left the Huntington Library (HL) this past Sunday. We swung by 1919 Cafe and they didn't have any scones. We asked where we can get some scones... the lady at the register directed us to the Red Car Coffee Shop. We were on our merry way... Red Car is a very small, but lovely coffee shop. It has limited inside seating, but has a good size outside patio seating. They offered two types of scones... I don't remember what they were and I didn't take a picture of them. I always hesitate on coffee shops and restaurants at museums and gardens- I've never had a good experience. I was about to leave the Huntington and in serious need of coffee. It was afternoon so most places within a short drive were closed. I decided to give red car a go and I was super impressed, especially given this is inside of the Huntington and museum restaurants tend to be icky. The service was top notch! Great service!! The workers over there are actually really nice, friendly, and attentive! This cute little cafe offers some great espresso drinks, some teas, the small fancy pastries, the healthy salads, Fosselman's Ice Cream, cookies, yummy sandwiches, the delicious snacks, the sweet scones, bagels, and the muffins for to go if you're truly interested!! The cafe also have some very nice seatings for the inside and the outside to relax before walking through the Huntington garden! All of their food and drink menu prices are really pricey in most cases. But I definitely will come back here to buy the foods and drinks to support them again when I'm in San Marino!! Fairly fast and convenient as it's located by the entrance of the Huntington library. Some seating indoors and more outdoors. One thing that stood out negatively, I ordered ice cream in a waffle cone (among other things) and the employee just handed it to me without wrapping any napkin/paper around the cone. It was unsanitary considering he was also manning the register. Honestly, never have been handed a cone like that and it was off putting. That said, the staff was friendly, just not very attentive. A beautiful location at one of my favorite spots on earth, the Huntington Library. Coffee is good. There are great treats to select from. Everything is good. Gelato, croissants, pastries. Understood you need to pay your rent at such a fine locale, but one star deduction for nonsensically inconsistent pricing. Why is a quality artisanal cheese and berry danish $6 versus a basic croissant $7? And a coffee is the usual $4 average? I get it, and agree, that they deserve to charge more for such a fine location. But the pricing on some items was kind of an insulting test of my intelligence.

The Red Car Coffee Shop is located at the entrance and has a cute and quaint atmosphere with limited indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is small, but we enjoyed a strong and tasty iced mocha made with non-fat milk. The refreshing drink was a welcome relief on a hot day and we appreciated the opportunity to relax and people watch by the window. Overall, it was a good place to take a break and recharge.

When visiting the Huntington Library, my companions and I decided to stop by for a quick coffee and snack. Usually, eateries near parks and tourist attractions are pricey and mediocre at best. However, despite its high prices comparable to typical park fare, this place exceeded our expectations in terms of taste. The pastries, especially the chocolate croissant, were delicious.

This restaurant is better than Starbucks. It is located conveniently in front of the Huntington gift shop and also offers Fosselman's ice cream. The space can be crowded as it is quite small, but there are good outdoor dining seats available.

Good prices great service. They have illy coffee. Which is delicious. Pastries and small sandwiches.
