Barry's has been here for generations-started out in a little caboose like trailer on the street in Bedford, Quebec-I went there as a child and they made the best French Fries I've ever eaten then and now! I grew up near this little fries joint. Been away for 38 years. Came back on vacation and told my wife we have to go to Barry's...they have the best French fries in the world...at least that's how I remember it as a kid. CORRECT!...They are still amazing, my wife...a South Carolina native fell in love with their Quebec specialite poutine. Fries smothered in curd cheese and a local brown sauce that melts the curds into the fries.....good googly moogly....that was awesome!
barry’s is an old-fashioned chip stand in a more modern building. every fat joy of her child (that her doctor will not likely agree, but so what:) cheeseburger with thin patties and real bark meat, French fries made fresh from real kartoffels, the best poutine. in quebec. it is definitely worth a stop (or a way around). but remember, it is cashless (how is that for old school . but no worries, there is a cash machine over the street.
We stopped here on the drive from QC to Vermont and I'm glad we did. This place is cash only and is crazy cheap and the food is really good. Hot dogs were under $2, double cheeseburger was $4. Everything is cooked to order as...well. This place was pretty busy, people coming in non-stop. Probably not the cleanest place but it's good and cheap. Never been in a place that has a bug zapper sitting on top of the trash can.
If the flight from London landed a bit earlier this would be my first stop back in Quebec but settled for a first visit on our third day and a second visit before we left. Have also tried La Pataterie both great but Barry's...takes the gold. Good old fashioned greasy food. I dream about it! Have been going there since I was a kid and the same women serve us 20 years later. An institution!
We stopped off here on our way to Vermont. It was a nice treat. It's a fast food place and has been in the location for a very long time. Some old pictures to show its humble beginnings. The food is good and I don't...think you can beat the prices anywhere. Hi! the coffee is a $1.39 and is good. The servers are friendly and patient as we decided on what to order.
completely bilingual staff large hamburger, and this could also be said for the putine. 99% local customers, everyone knows everyone so they were not on tourist, but were extremely nice.
Barry is a good old-fashioned greasy spoon. Good service, good food but for me, the most important thing in a hot-dog, burger poutine restaurant are the fries and theirs are great!
we went to lunch as a family. they have to order and can eat before place. the smoked meat sandwich is very good. poutine is also excellent.
