We had so much fun, finding Laugerie Bass and eating there. It was featured in one of Martin Walker's books about Bruno, Chief of Police in the fictional St. Denis, not too far from Les Eyzies. Good friends of Brunos have their wedding feast at...Laugerie Basse. We couldn't wait to eat there. First, we love going where people of the area really go, and at the end of October I would guess the lunch crowd was about one quarter tourists and three quarters locals. This restaurant is out of Les Eyzies and a bit of a climb, but well worth the effort. It is right next to the Grand Roc with a car park opposite and a crossing. It has two eating areas, one inside the building and one...under an awning a short distance away. It was very busy on both occasions and had a mixed clientele of couples and families. Children were made very welcome and there seemed to be plenty of choice for them. Service was efficient and brisk, as the owner/manageress kept her staff on their toes and did a lot of the serving, herself. There were a number of regulars, in spite of it being a tourist site. Even if this restaurant served merely average food it would still be worth a visit for the stunning location and great views from the terrace. Nestling in a cliff face and surrounded by tiny and impossibly cute cottages, just being there is a thrill. But...the food is in fact very good indeed, with a range of menus offering three courses and very reasonable prices, lovely staff and a good range of a la carte options too if you don't fancy a three course meal. It's all local, wonderfully prepared, and the choice of wines is very good. If you're in the area it would be madness not to check this place out.

Oh my this place has a wonderful setting. They offer great local food, served with warmth. They were busy but were attentive. The food was tasteful, including the extra soup starter served in addition to the set menu. We were not rushed, and made...to feel special. Definitely worth the moderate price they charge. Great food, wine and dessert. Not expensive and in a great location. lovely terrace dining tables.. I will definitely go back here again. This is the type of food and service that adds to the whole French experience as a tourist.

If you're ready to have a relaxing, lounging lunch with a group, this is the place. Ask to eat on the terrace for a beautiful view of the Vezere valley. Amazing lunch, extremely hearty and filling. Highly recommend the cheese.

Delicious confit de canard, foie gras and goat cheese salad. Park xs from Laugerie Basse and walk up the hill. Prompt friendly service. Definitely worth the walk and visit.

Fantastic simple home cooking, lots of it and excellent value for money. The crumble poireaux chocolat was very tasty
