I went to eighteen with 3 girlfriends to celebrate our friend graduating from nursing school. The interior is very nice, located right in the Byward market. We knew this was a fine dinning restaurant and it lived up to those expectations with with a courteous waiter, friendly sommolier and a cool, calm atmosphere. There menu was new and very original dishes were offered including a duck dish prepared two ways and black cod. My friends ordered the fois gras for an appetizer, served on brioche with marscapone filled cherries; I tried some and it was delicious. Your service was excellent. We have no negative comment in regards to the service we experienced. Everyone was wonderful and the bilingual service was exceptional. The food on the other hand was not up to par. We had the discovery menu with the wine paring. Compared to other places where we’ve have this experience it unfortunately fail short. For the price we expected to be wowed and to discover some of the best food offered but we left dissatisfied and disappointed. There was no wow factor to the food we were served. We very much enjoyed our dinner at Restaurant e18ghteen. When I made the reservation, I let them know it was our anniversary. They acknowledged it by seating us in a lovely window seat and wishing us happy anniversary in chocolate on a dessert plate with complimentary chocolate tarts which was a great touch! A lot of restaurants ask if you are celebrating anything special and don't do anything but Restaurant e18ghteen showed it which is a rare event these days in restaurants. I had a recommendation from my sister in Brockville to eat at this beautiful restaurant. She was brilliant! This restaurant was a haven of peace in the midst of the bustling Byward Market area.The decor is rustic yet sophisticated. The two levels gives additional privacy for conversation.The service was excellent. We were well taken care of by the waiters and the knowledgable sommelier.I had the Duo Duck entree which was fantastic! (I am a duck lover and this was the best I have ever had!) I was so thrilled with my duck that I can't quite remember what my husband had. He was very happy with his meal though. Very nice evening. There a small mix up with my spouse’s entrée but the issue was corrected quickly and to our satisfaction. I recommend Eighteen for a nice dinner , excellent service and great food.
I had high expectations. Very nice decor, super nice and efficient staff but the food was average . I expected a lot more. I ate tartare and it was not very tasteful.very good wine selection
